SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at BALLARAT on Saturday, big 10-race card, track was GOOD but there was a splash of rain through the day, many wanted to avoid the inside lanes but doubt there was any significant pattern/bias on the day.
RUN OF THE DAY:
Podium finishes this week go to debutante MURT THE FLIRT and PROFIT SHARE but hard to go by MUJADALE’s dashing win in the feature, the Ballarat Cup, he set a strong speed (1-15.8 1st-1200m) was revved-up well before the turn, and kept running, he looked like The Cleaner… His margin was significant on the line and he was as strong as anything chasing over the wire too.
Overall time for 2200m was 2-17.8. Runner-up AT FIRST SIGHT came through the same race as the winner and was a solid 2nd, FAT AL (sat handy/ gave all) and HURDY GURDY MAN (good over the line) were improved efforts however, it was a bit of a ”Grand Prix” race (most held their spots all way around) so that may have flattered? TUSCAN FIRE was sound (had chance) and THE INVENTOR did well after using some early petrol, his 11.36 last 200m was race-fastest.
Race 9 saw ZUMA ROC resume a winner, they played for luck coming from back and saving ground proving there was no bias, he ran by fit in-form horses too, one of those was EXIMIUS who looked winner when he took over 300m out but was no match winner, BACKSTEDT never shirked after leading, they were keen to get away from the rail, the quinella ran up inside him. OUR HAND OF FAITH kept finding the line here too. KING OF DUDES ran well 2nd-up at big odds after tardy start here. Time: 1-38.6 so tick under 2-secs off track record.
Race 6 was the Clockwise Classic and CARRIAGES was simply too fast over the 1000m, she set a solid clip 34.9 1st-600m and held the fave 2L on the line, that fave was PROMPT RETURN who did use some juice to get up into second, winner kept going far too well, he held second clearly. Both MORAL OUTRAGE (covered ground/ kept closing) and OLD TRIESTE (nice work late/ wants ground) ran well here, time was 59.4
Race 5 is worth a mention, winner was MAKING MAYHEM who sat handy and toughed it out to score beating the fave PROFIT SHARE who cost himself a win by racing keen early, he was very strong late and outside of him, it was a real on-pace race, 1st, 3rd-DURENDAL and 4th-SHAF all were up on speed, 5th-horse WE’VE GOT THIS closed quite well despite greenness and still has upside, these five had 3.3L to spare on the rest of the field and were in a different race. Time: 1-25.66
3YO MM Classic was Race 4 and debutante MURT THE FLIRT won it very well, loved the turn of speed from the back, yes it was a swooper’s race this one, in fact the first four home were all in the last five midrace, trainer suspects winner is group class so? Runner-up BOUNDARY swung wide and charged home at just start two and has a future, GUAJEO made up a stack of ground closer to the inside, she went through line nicely too, REIGNING METEOR was not flash out but was near the winner turning, he kept closing and ran well still. CRINKLECUT looks one to follow after being stopped in his tracks he picked-up and hit line sweetly… Can forgive on-pacers here, given race pattern = swoopers!! Time: 1-5.79
THE FORGIVE FILE:
LOCK AND LOAD (wide), CRINKLECUT (as mentioned), I’M A FLYING STAR (badly hampered), DEVON PRINCESS (amiss), WALTZING TO WIN (lame), MOTIVADO (plenty of issues) and RIALYA (amiss).
In SYDNEY it was KENSINGTON track at Randwick. Track was listed as DEAD-4 and yep, DEAD about covered it… Just an awful raceday, massive kick-back and really, you can forgive ANY horse who raced in behind runners on the day, even some beaten over 10L could well come out and win next start on a level playing field. Those leading or right on-speed won 6 of the 8 races, the other two winners were TERAI (box-seated) and RESURRECT (who swooped out wide off mad speed).
RUN OF THE DAY:
Runners-up are LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY and OFF THE RAILS but the major ‘prize’ will go to MEDCAUT who sat handy on solid speed, took over a long way out and just kept running, he was dominant today!
That early split was 48.6 1st-800m and his overall time was 1-33.24 for 1550m, he was in front 200m out and still had clearly fastest last 200m! CENTRE PIVOT ran on well from back/wide for second and still has upside. MAGICAL STANCE was an every chance 3rd and GOD’S IN HIM was quite good late, suspect he wants further now… winner had the RESURRECT form…
… and RESURRECT had just won (again) the race prior (R6) coming from the back off that strong speed (49.3 1st-800m), they then slowed-up (1-14.05 1st-1200m), runner-up PARIS MATCH had the last crack at him but could not get by, she is flying this prep though! SLIVOVITZ did a good job, he took over a long way out when pace slackened and note, swoopers ran 1-2 here. BARGE AND CHARGE resented racing with kick-back it seemdd, he hooked out and battled well for 4th. They ran 1-50.53 for 1800m here.
Race 5 was won by the best backed runner all day in SKARSGUARD who led (good spot today!), with blinkers on, and was never in doubt, punters were all over it. He led 41.6 1st-700m and ran 1-17.2 overall for 1300m. Outside of the winner there was 1.2L second-to-fifth, SURGE AHEAD (sat wide – good return), OFF THE RAILS (best closer – home 12.18 last 200m), PERFECT WEAPON (sound return) and SINJOREN (also sound – 2nd-up) made up that top-5.
THE FORGIVE FILE:
TURBULENT JET (bled), MR ONE ELEVEN (worked way too hard), SIR BIGGLESWORTH ( no peace), ENORMOUS HONOUR (neverr happy/ pulled-up coughing), METICULOUSLY (wide), MAJESTIC BEAST (poor recovery) and MUSIC MAN (bled).

Yes, our man David ”Gator” Gately was at it again on Saturday, in short, his Best Value Bet Of The Day MUJADALE streeted rivals in the Ballarat Cup and was around $16 when the G1 email went out !! Add to that his Bet Of The Day in Sydney was TERAI and she duly saluted at beautiful odds of $4.6 (better was bet !!)

As one subscriber put it: ”You should be charging triple for this service Gator, you are a freak !!”

No, our aim is value racing information, we will be keeping the cost at just $34.99 per month (works out only $8 per week)

SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at SANDOWN (Hillside) on Saturday. Track was GOOD and Rail was TRUE. There was no mad pattern or bias. Winner’s came from everywhere, most avoided the inside lanes later in the day but the leader of the final race did run second, at big odds.
RUN OF THE DAY: Honorable mentions this week go to THE FRENCH HOUSE and BERISHA but have to go with POLITENESS in the final event, she sat back off a modest tempo, she had partial cover, then charged out after leader and rushed past to win running away by 2L.
The leader (and runner-up) was JUDICIAL ROCK who did give a good sight, she led her 1st-900m in 56.38 which was 2.2-seconds (roughly 13L) slower than Spacecraft (who led the other 1500m race – won by Pornichet) and stayed on the inside lanes. 3rd was AVA’S DELIGHT who (of course) blew the start and ran home hard. ROSE OF CHOICE was following winner POLITENESS and finished well, but was no match. NADEEM LASS wound-up strongly late, only winner had a faster last 200m, this girl was home 11.65. Winner, 11.58. Overall time: 1-31.15
Back to Race 2 then and PORNICHET was mile too good for these, yeah he did a bit wrong again and raced keen, then perhaps was a little lost in front but has a splash of class I fancy! He won in 1-29.61 so significantly faster than Politeness (same trip) but as mentioned, they went much quicker their 1st-900m, it was run here in 54.17 by SPACECRAFT who held 3rd, between them was GENERAL GROOVE who worked home nicely, he ran a 12.29 last 200m, bettered only by REFER who had missed the kick, strong home, 12.22. SPEEDINESS was way below his best, spell time !!
Zipping Classic was Race 5 and AU REVOIR had the right run on-speed, he had to really fight though as EPINGLE challenged strongly to his inside, fancy she reached the lead 200m out too, no shock the MV Cup form kept holding up here, 3rd was PRINCE OF PENZANCE who did well given he overraced badly for the first 1000m of the race. SPILLWAY loomed, but the end of 2400m really tests him and he was a good risk. GREEN MOON is g-a-w-n-e!! Time: 2:32.06
The Eclipse was Race 6 and ZABISCO nailed PHEIDON right on the wire thanks to A) A lovely ride and B) rider on PHEIDON pulling the trigger a long way out, given he was wide early in the race, his effort to be beaten in the last hop was excellent. EXTRA ZERO ridden colder ran home well, only ESCADO had a quicker last 200m split, he (Escado) just couldn’t get into the race early enough, flew late, long time between wins for these two which was always the worry I guess. RHYTHM TO SPARE was a sound 4th but had his chance. Time: 1-49.67 off 50.67 1st-800m
Sandown Guineas was Race 7 and PETROLOGY impressed, back to 1600m, last to first and swept by some smarties, think he is safe from gelding Op for now! It was a swoopers race here, 1st, 3rd, 4th all came from teh back which adds merit to runner-up STRATUM STAR who was on-speed 3rd the rail, he just had no answer for the winner but beat other swooper’s BERISHA (back/wide and excellent !!) and UNGRATEFUL ELLEN (left standing by winner but ran home well late – wants further). REKINDLED POWER was OK in 6th. They ran 1-36.74 off a solid 49.85 1st-800m.
The gelding op has worked for FAST N ROCKING, he showed great fight to beat GENERALIFE at WFA given runner-up looked to be bolting at the 300m, they got by FLAMBERGE who had sat up 2nd and he gave his all. The quinella here recorded the fastest and second-fastest last 200m splits of the day in 11.26 and 11.29 respectively. First three here had 2.5L to spare on 4th, JAZZ SONG, who worked home quite well. They ran 1-17.67 for 1300m
THE FORGIVE FILE:
BOOMGAL (wide), SERGEANT SAM (widest!), JACQUERIC (internal bleed), VIBRANT ROUGE (in trouble 900m), RED BOMBER (nearly fell turning!), THE FRENCH HOUSE (badly held-up/ flew late!), DUAL STAR (wide), RAWNAQ (lame), TRISTRAM’S SUN (mucus found), BEL THOR (sore/ too close?), LORD ASPEN (wide), ESTONIAN PRINCESS (mucus found) and BELLE DE COUER (bled).
In Sydney it was ROSEHILL and track was GOOD. Rail was 3m. No mad pattern here either, most left the inside lanes as the day went on but winner’s sat handy and came from the back.
RUN OF THE DAY:
Podium finishers are PACEMAN and COMMAND MORE but going with DOTHRAKI here, he had 60kg, he sat back and showed great acceleration to put a handy field away, quickly!
He ran 1-4.04 off the 30.32 1st-500m and more to come from this guy. GOLDSTONE was solid 2nd and every hope, winner rushed by! AGENT stayed closer to the inside and was sound in 3rd. DREAM CHOICE hit the line for 4th, went much better when outside them I noted. GREEN BERET didn’t finish off today, maybe the hard run last time took a toll?
HEART TESTA won Race 6 tracking the strong speed, he was bolting 300m out and had enough left to score, think he’d be a risk beyond 1400m let’s say, he beat a handy field too, MOURO made a pleasing return running second with his big weight. KING COBIA was 3rd, and sound (followed winner), YOU’LL NEVER made up a stack of ground and finished right on their heels, the other closer was CASUAL CHOICE (came down outside) and they ran 1-20.25 for 1350m here.
MESMEREYESER won the last sitting handy and a touch wide, he knuckled down well, by race 8 I doubt covering a bit of ground was an issue but still, others had softer runs! MISS TENPINS just missed back closer to the inside and they wore down VANILLA PRINCESS late (she led/ gave her all). COMMAND MORE was in traffic at a vital stage, clear about 330m out, and made very nice ground, can follow! They ran 1-11.13 here off 36.4 1st-600m.
THE FORGIVE FILE:
I AM ZELADY (good thing beat), GANGSTER’S CHOICE (covered ground), BEYOND THANKFUL (held-up a bit too long!), O’REILLYS REVENGE (had tough run), MAMWAAZEL (start no help!) and CHATHAM HOUSE (stayed inside!?).

PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for SANDOWN (Hillside) are for DEAD track. Rail is TRUE. Was 12m here last meeting and swooper’s (up middle) had a significant advantage, some 10mls of rain predicted raceday so MUST watch and monitor pattern through the day, I would be surprised if the inside lanes were the right place to be especially as the day wears on.
In Sydney it is ROSEHILL and ratings are for GOOD track. Rail is 3m. Track has been playing very well of late. No bias/pattern expected unless track becomes very firm… Then, on-speed runners are favoured.
BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
SANDOWN (Hillside) – Race 5 No.4 – PRINCE OF PENZANCE – Outstanding win in MV Cup off slow speed (11.6 last 200m at the end of 2500m was fastest all day outside of Lumosty’s race) then just missed in Q.E. Stks with 58kg on that Good-2 track, he must be flying if he’s running that well on a Good-2. Bit of rain ideal.
BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
ROSEHILL – Race 5 No.6 – MALICE – Made a good one (Best Case) work to beat him here last time out to 1800m, they had a margin on 3rd. Looks to get gun run here third inside and 1900m no issue. Keen.
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL – Race 6 No.5 – YOU’LL NEVER – Great return win charging over top off a strong BM96 field. Better suited 1350m if anything. three natural leaders means speed should be on. Simply flying and overs at $7 as I type.
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
SANDOWN (Hillside) – Race 6 No.6 – ESCADO – Was best closer (best late splits) in G1 Emirates last week on better day to be nearer the speed. Back a notch here and out to 1800m are big ticks. Great each-way value. Any rain just a bonus.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL – Race 7 No.12 – NISROC - Backed heavy fresh but trapped very wide. She was good WFM 2nd-up last prep when 3rd to handy Oh So Adorable despite covering ground there. In light here. Come up big odds! Overs?
Lay OF The Day:
ROSEHILL – Race 3 No.4 – FRESNAPOL – Flying this prep and liked him a lot last time, however, $2.8 equal fave with Church Boy??? No thanks!
TOP-RATED RUNNERS:
SANDOWN (Hillside)
Race 1 – Listed 2YO – 1000m
  1. 7 – THURLOW – Trialled well in fast time behind a star in Fontiton then raced up straight no cover and beat all-bar one (spruiked) Godolphin debutante, they ran useful time.
  2. 1 – JACQUERIC – Liked his trial before terrific debut when outsped and very new but rocketed late (best closing splits) and winner looks smart (and was on quicker inside lanes this day), only three Maribyrnong Plates have been run quicker in last 20 years.
  3. 4 – MESA – 1st-start. Trialled well when 2nd to Bantam (fave/ good in that fast Maribyrnong Trial) with good gap to 3rd, this guy was ridden a bit, but went well.
  4. 9 – HELL OR HIGHWATER – 1st-start. Sat off speed in trial and went through nicely under light ride. Has good ability too it seems.
  5. 3 – EXACTING – 1st-start. Sat off speed in jump out and held ground without being knocked about, also looks to have ability.
Race 2 – G3 Sandown Stks – 1500m
  1. 2 – PORNICHET – Liked his Oz debut when keen early then ran home well behind subsequent G1 winner Hucklebuck, his last 200m split was race-fastest, better for that and suited 1500m.
  2. 1 – SPEEDINESS – Has been found out in fast-run 1600m races of late, he barely runs that trip, now is back to 1500m and back to G3 grade. Left alone at top of the weights but he is the only proven G1 performer here. Can win!
  3. 6 – RED BOMBER – Has won 4 of his last 5 and had genuine excuses in the miss. Streeted them last time in $80k Peninsula Cup Mornington and maps well here up 3rd, 4th. Can measure up.
  4. 8 – GENERAL GROOVE – Off back-to-back wins and in latest he held off Spy Decoder who, two runs back ran quickest late splits in a G1 Epsom behind winner, He’s Your Man. The 1500m is no issue. Chance!
  5. 7 – LADY LAKSHMI – Was $14-to-$7 last time but didn’t finish off. Her 3yo form around handy gallopers (often with far from ideal runs) reads well.
Race 3 – Listed 3YOF – 1400m
  1. 3 – MORE RADIANT – Forced to cover ground last time behind Tawteen who led (on leader’s track). Thought this girl went well. Tawteen ran terriifc in a hot race Oaks Day. The Earthquake form prior is G1 Coolmore form. 1400m and wet should be no issues. Maiden.
  2. 1 – WINE TALES – Just a horror watch last time, safe to say she goes close to winning with any luck at all. Prior to that she produced the best late splits of the day to win in Sydney, and beat Careless before that, he ran well in G2 Carbine Club.
  3. 4 – DUAL STAR – Copped check key stage from (smart) winner last time yet still closed strongly, Tawteen and Eloping were in that race so it was a hot version and, that ties her in with More Radiant ans Co. Has a case!
  4. 7 – WROCLAW – Came wide too soon in the same race as Wine Tales, she was good, and must have a case if Wine Tales does. Do think the quinella there are smart. Has upside this girl.
  5. 2 – MUSCOVADO – Doubt was in the A-ground last time and 2000m probably tested her anyway. She beat Kermadec and Abduction prior, that’s great form!
Race 4 – Listed Sandown Cup – 3200m
  1. 7 – RENEW – Was not disgraced in Caulfield Cup then bloused by Grand Marshall latest (beat 3rd clearly), that winner had just run 2nd to Order Of The Sun who finished 3rd in Bendigo Cup so that ties in nicely.
  2. 5 – ZANBAGH – D-Day looms but she ran OK on hard track in Q.E. Stks and finished alongside, Bring Something so… Bit of rain a help.
  3. 2 – LIKE A CAROUSEL – Raced a bit keen last time. He is strong stayer but must relax early this level. Geelong Cup run was good and it was a deep race this year.
  4. 6 – ANCIENT KING – Was not in the best going in that Bendigo Cup. He was OK in Ramsden Stks at 3200m on dry, he is length or two better with jar out…
Race 5 – G2 Zipping Classic – WFA – 2400m
  1. 4 – PRINCE OF PENZANCE – Outstanding win in MV Cup off slow speed (11.6 last 200m at the end of 2500m was fastest all day outside of Lumosty’s race) then just missed in Q.E. Stks with 58kg on that Good-2 track, he must be flying if he’s running that well on a Good-2. Bit of rain ideal.
  2. 5 – AU REVOIR – Led (slow pace) and held 3rd in MV Cup behind Q.E. Stks quinella, his Melb Cup run was huge given he covered grounbd in fast run race. At WFA he has .5kg swing on top-pick. Never easy 3200-to-2400m but.. the danger.
  3. 9 – EPINGLE – Stuck to task well in that strong MV Cup given the tempo was not there for her, and, she is likely fitter now. She finished with Precedence (then 6th in Melb Cup).
  4. 6 – SPILLWAY – Is a query at the end of 2400m still but his latest attempt was a brutal Metrop. less tempo here probably key. Good late in deep G1 McKinnon last time.
  5. 8 – COUNT OF LIMONADE – Can win if rain has come. A risk if dry. Beat Prince Of Penzance on wet in Moe Cup then had excuses Bendigo.
Race 6 – G3 Eclipse Stks – 1800m
  1. 6 – ESCADO – Was best closer (best late splits) in G1 Emirates last week on better day to be nearer the speed. Back a notch here and out to 1800m are big ticks. Any rain just a bonus.
  2. 2 – RHYTHM TO SPARE – Was better than Escado in G1 Toorak and ran super then found to be lame last week on Good-2 track so forgive that one. He can win if right!
  3. 3 – PHEIDON – Brave on-speed Cup Day behind G3 winner. His record at 1600m+ is very good. G1 Epsom run says thsi G3 is in his reach.
  4. 9 – ZABISCO – Loomed a bit 2nd-up in that Pheidon race which was won closer to the inside. That peaks him. Come up good odds and perhaps the best roughie here?
  5. 7 – EXTRA ZERO – Just cannot nail another win! Has relative weights in favour from Kyneton Cup and gets good run.
  6. 1 – SONNTAG – Good return win and Sale Cup form has been franked. Not easy 58.5kg but he is a G1 winner…
Race 7 – G2 Sandown Guineas – 3YO – 1600m
  1. 2 – STRATUM STAR – Caught wide in Carbine Club and beat all-bar Kermadec who had it softer, and looks very good, they got away on 3rd. Has gate 2 here and leaning to this form over Hilton Stks.
  2. 7 – DUCAL CASTLE – Held-up on heels then flashed late behind Lord Aspen, you could argue strongly he should have won it. Step to mile looks suitable. Danger.
  3. 4 – LORD ASPEN – Won that Hilton Stks despite not having much idea what was going on. He had a few behind him who had run quite well in hot G1 Coolmore the week prior. Has immeasurable upside to him. Mile looks a non-issue.
  4. 9 – REKINDLED POWER – Hit line Ok behind Kuro (very good in Coolmore) before bolting in the maiden. Will relsih 1600m himself. Has real upside also.
  5. 3 – PETROLOGY – Had right run and won last time, he played-up badly pre-race so that adds merit to the win. Back to 1600m some query and more depth here but has a case.
Race 8 – G3 Kev Heffernan Stks – WFA – 1300m
  1. 5 – GENERALIFE – Found line last time behind Hucklebuck (then won G1) with pornichet (ran earlier) in behind. Wide/Good prior running on behind Emirates runner-up in Lucky Hussler. Proven WFA.
  2. 6 – CHARLIE BOY – Chased Deep Field last time when solid 4th, he thrashed 5th, fancy the trifecta there would be well fancied here. Tempo of 1300m looks ideal for him.
  3. 1 – FAST N ROCKING – Chased good one all the way to the line last week and gave him weight. Doubt the drop to 1300m is any issue at all. Been genuine since the gelding op! In Cahoots form ties in.
  4. 11 – SWEET AS BRO – Great jump out before flop fresh and freshened. Has the talent and good roughie is near right.. Goes in for mine.
  5. 4 – REPARATIONS – Top win fresh off lovely trial and he ran time. Any rain won’t hurt. Trip non-issue. No knock.
Race 9 – G3 Summond Stks – mares – 1500m
  1. 3 – POLITENESS – Ran well in G1 Myer and was close-up but fancy the end of 1600m just tested. Back to G3 here, back to 1500m and nice big track.
  2. 2 – ESTONIAN PRINCESS – Beat Politeness home in Myer and hardly had ton of luck, made a handy one in Neena Rock work to beat her prior. Is flying. Gate awkward.
  3. 6 – ROSE OF CHOICE – Raced keen early last time, she still shot through but Mahara got out and nailed her. Note blinkers come off here. The fresh run in Nivison when wide was excellent.
  4. 8 – MINNIE DOWNS – Did find line off slow speed latest and wants all of 1500m on big track here. Underated and big odds here. Goes in!
  5. 12 – BELLE DE COEUR – Strong home down middle 3rd-up in Rose Of Choice race, meets her 1.5kg better, was 5-weeks off into that too… Chance!
  6. 1 – SHE’S CLEAN – Wide/ Forgive last run and well up to these herself…
ROSEHILL
Race 1 – 2YO SWP – 1100m
  1. 3 – PACEMAN – 1st-start. Sat handy and raced away in trial, looked smart, ran around 3L quicker than Right Of Way on the day.
  2. 5 – PHILOSOPHY – 1st-start. Speed/Excellent trial win herself and she ran good time for the morning.
  3. 6 – RIGHT OF WAY – 1st-start. Another good trial winner, as mentioned, time was around 3L slower than Paceman but she has good ability too it seems.
  4. 1 – ZULU ROYAL – Was $26-to-$41 on debut yet defied that closing strongly on debut here but winner had last look at him. Looks depth here.
Race 2 – 3YOF BM72 – 1300m
  1. 2 – LUCY’S LOOK – Had her 59kg latest and looked stiff not to beat Sebrina who then had little luck herself behind I Am Zelady who is here. Awkward draw but can clearly win.
  2. 4 – SNOW WHITE – Has turned the corner now, sound maiden win in useful time then straight to town and looks quite good WFM with 58kg. extra trip here ideal.
  3. 3 – I AM ZELADY – Sat handy on debut and raced away, was $8-to-$13 there, but looked good, time was ok. Level of improvement key.
Race 3 – BM80 – 1500m
  1. 3 – CHURCH BOY – Looks smart. Far too good for Hollywood Bound last time, he had just dead-heated with Terai who ran so well Flemington last week. Go back three runs and he toyed with Pillow Talk (good last week).
  2. 2 – ABBASSO – Trapped wide fresh and have to forgive. Won maiden easy 2nd-up last prep then went on to beat Black Revolver (and other subsequent Saturday winners that race).
  3. 6 – MORAL VICTORY – Good on-pace fresh albeit, in on-pace race but that form has been franked. This guy also has the scalp of Black Revolver. Rarely misses first four.
  4. 5 – HOLLYWOOD BOUND – No match for Church Boy latest but 2kg swing helps and mentioned the Terai form… Must have a case then.
  5. 4 – FRESNAPOL – Two from two this prep and beat Timeless Prince in latest who ran well again last week. Up to 58kg and fancy this BM80 has more depth but no knock.
Race 4 – BM95 – 1100m
  1. 7 – GREEN BERET – Caught wide on-speed here fresh with 62kg and was so brave. Atmosperical then went to Flemington and won. Bloused by Diamond Oasis two-back and meets him 5.5kg better!
  2. 2 – DOTHRAKI – Nice trial then good fresh run when looked winner but was swamped by You’ll Never who is flying. Wa snot far off Sidestep and Bounding 2nd-up last prep then won 3rd-up. Danger.
  3. 4 – DIAMOND OASIS – Worked early yet too strong late two-back and Shiraz emerged a good winner from that race. Great effort MV latest given his 61kg, yes pattern helped and yes, weights are dead-against but he is in this.
  4. 1 – ZARATONE – Made a promising one work to beat him fresh, they ran sizzling time/splits. Claim is clever (and needed) here.. No recent wins but still got it the old boy.
  5. 8 – AGENT – Stuck to his task latest in that (fast) Zaratone race with no weight. Claims down again and fitter.
Race 5 – Hcp – 1900m
  1. 6 – MALICE – Made a good one (Best Case) work to beat him here last time out to 1800m, they had a margin on 3rd. Looks to get gun run here third inside and 1900m no issue. Keen.
  2. 8 – REIGNING – Back and in trouble fresh then found line sweetly. Just even 2nd-up in Malice/ Best Case race but 3rd-up to 1900m a better recipe.
  3. 3 – LUCKY CHAPPY – Led them up that same race and held on ok for semi-distant 3rd, has 2kg swing on Malice so certainly has a case.
  4. 5 – BEYOND THANKFUL – Hard to follow. If he runs to the Grand Marshall/ Saigon Tea run here latest he will go close, those two ran super Flemington through carnival… Hard to trust is all.
  5. 2 – MIDSUMEMR SUN – Had excuses in slowly run Coongy then back in trip and just OK in the Malice race… senior rider up.
Race 6 – November Hcp – 1350m
  1. 5 – YOU’LL NEVER – Great return win charging over top off a strong BM96 field. Better suited 1350m if anything. three natural leaders means speed should be on. Simply flying!
  2. 2 – SCREAM MACHINE – Outsped fresh in fast-run 1100m race. 2nd-up last prep he was running home hard in G1 WFA Domben 10,000 at this trip. Angland knows him well.
  3. 3 – HEART TESTA – Ridden off speed at 1400m latest and closed well (after being forced wide) in feature race Hawkesbury. New string to his beau? Loves Rosehill.
  4. 1 – MOURO – Resumes. Stranged/Closed in top trial. Beat Mourinho (that’s The Cleaner form) fresh last prep giving him 4kg. Claim important here down from 62kg.
  5. 9 – BOSS LANE – Two good wins (and form behind strong!) then forgiving last run when wide. Draws in. Deep race this.
Race 7 – BM75 – 1350m
  1. 12 – NISROC – Backed heavy fresh but trapped very wide. She was good WFM 2nd-up last prep when 3rd to handy Oh So Adorable despite covering ground there. In light here. Come up big odds! Overs?
  2. 1 – COMMANDING WIT – Lovely late work in Nivison (that form measured up Flemington) then things did not pan out well last time, in blanket go, and she is better suited 1350m anyway. Against males but claims down.
  3. 9 – WINSOMEMORE – Started fave to beat Church Boy fresh but found to be sore. Kept fresh. Good talent and Bowman sticks… If right, fancy he is up to these and may be overs himself.
  4. 11 – MASTERSTROKE – Will bob up one of these days. Backed off the map off freshen latest in race won by the handy Shiraz.
  5. 3 – O’REILLY’S REVENGE – Draws out but can offset that quickly here going forward. Showed great gate speed last time and led/fought well. Had Church Boy form prior on wet, is better dry. Chance too.
Race 8 – F&M BM80 – 1200m
  1. 3 – MAMWAAZEL – No luck fresh. Carted 60kg when nutted by in-form Sense And Reason 2nd-up last prep. Races well here. Is genuine and this has a tail to it…
  2. 14 – FIFTYSHADESOFGREY – Big finale fresh in the Shiraz race and 1200m suits better. 2nd-up stats are misleading! Senior rider up. Chance.
  3. 4 – CHATHAM HOUSE – Solid on-speed fresh in blanket go. Missed on heavy track 2nd-up last prep. Had not missed top-3 previously when 2nd-up. Gets nice run!
  4. 8 – MESMEREYSER – Resumes. Made nice ground under no real riding in trial. Ran home hard fresh last prep at midweeks in a race not much stronger than this. Tough/Wide finish to day…

Stakes Day 2014

Author: Gator
PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for FLEMINGTON are for GOOD track. There was no mad pattern here Thursday although hard on that inside rail was mostly avoided. Straight races were won up the middle.
In Sydney we are back at RANDWICK and rail comes out 11m. It is rare to have rail out this far. Doubt those on-speed will have any great disadvantage but… Must watch and monitor early races.
BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
FLEMINGTON – Race 9 No.7 - ECLAIR BIG BANG – Scratched at gates here Saturday. Probably should have beaten In Cahoots last time, that guy gave Deep Field a scare in that race. No issue 1400m. Go well.
BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
RANDWICK – Race 5 No.3 – AMOVATIO – Jumped to mile latest, went back and was on heels turning then flew home in otherwise on-pace race. Fancy sits closer here in a race devoid of speed. Keen he is ready to win again
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
FLEMINGTON – Race 7 No.5 – HOOKED – Wide on mad speed in Epsom yet somehow held 3rd (sub 47-secs 1st-800m!) then chased another hot speed (sub 47-secs 1st-800m again) MV at WFA and surged clear long way out, but kept going. He was .2 off the course record. Back to Hcp. well drawn and value at $8 mark.
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
FLEMINGTON – Race 5 No.1 – PRINCE OF PENZANCE – Excellent win MV Cup running by Precedence and Au Revoir who just ran 6th and 8th in a Melb Cup! His 11.6 last 200m was fastest all day (at end of 2500m) deleting Lumosty’s race. Hard track and 58kg are queries but the formline is too strong to go against him
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
RANDWICK – Race 6 No.3 – PARIS MATCH – Terrific return weaving through and just missing. Attacked line for close 3rd to handy Lorna May 2nd-up last prep. Like her Mahara formline! The value at $10-ish as I type.
Lay Of The Day:
FLEMINGTON – Race 5 No.2 – BIG MEMORY – Has a case but come-up equal fave and suspect there are better chances is all.
TOP-RATED RUNNERS:
FLEMINGTON
Race 1 – G3 Maribyrnong Plate – 2YO – 1000m
  1. 4 – BANTAM – 1st-start. Nice trial win (untouched) late October. Stable won 2YO race Tuesday with one who did not go as well as this guy to my eye.
  2. 8 – OLD TRIESTE – 1st-start. Was slow out in trial, came wide and ran over his rivals, he was ridden, but went well.
  3. 1 – PROMPT RETURN – did not jump well on debut then recovered, sat handy and beat Hello Hornsby who ran OK 5th here Tuesday to Darely’s Antelucan in OK time.
  4. 2 – ICEFLOW – Jumped-out well before good debut 2nd to Mihalic who was just OK here Tuesday to Antelucan.
  5. 10 – BELHAMAGE – 1st-start. Stablemate of Bantam. Showed ability at jump outs. dam has been a good producer. McDonald rides this.
  6. 11 – LITTLE INDIAN – 1st-start. Showed good speed/ability in her jump out too.
Race 2 – RB90 – 2000m
  1. 14 – CADILLAC MOUNTAIN – Surprised they dodged Oaks Day in VERY winnable race… Top pick here to 2000m but less confident that Thurs.
  2. 8 – RAWNAQ – Was only 2nd-up and jumping quickly to 2000m when ran over Bring Back and Co. at Caulfield. M.Walker has the key to this guy, wide gate probably suits and just means better odds. His terrific 3rd on VRC Derby here shows how good he can be.
  3. 16 – BRING BACK – Good but just no match for Rawnaq Caulfield (this guy was 3rd-up) and meets him 1kg worse but has run well to G1 winner Sontaag.
  4. 5 – STRATIGRAPHY – Very good in Horsham Cup (deep race this year) out to 1800m when covered ground. Dont see 2000m pulling him up off that. Value?
  5. 10 – RAINBOW STORM – Was fave in that Horsham Cup and good/game on-pace. Back to 2000m a plus.
  6. 13 – HELD HOSTAGE – Was luckless in that Rawnaq race and has not had hard run as a consequence. Very honest. Chance also.
  7. 11 – BELLS OF TROY – Top win 2nd-up (new stable) and she is up to these… Come up huge odds!!
Race 3 – RB96 – 1600m
  1. 6 – OUR HAND OF FAITH – Bloused by Bel Thor in Seymour Cup (winner ran well here Tuesday) and finished on heels of Under The Louvre and Lucky Hussler prior, they quinellaed G3 race after that.
  2. 16 – SPY DECODER – Wants mile now… Do they back-up? Does he get a run in Emirates??
  3. 1 – EXCESS KNOWLEDGE – Out to silly odds last time off that good return when wide no cover, and chased hard/won. Jump up to 59kg is the worry but certainly has better form than 96 grade.
  4. 8 – PIN YOUR HOPES – Found trouble in Sale Cup, Sysmo did also, he was beaten a lip here Tuesday. Winner is G1 Qld derby winner. Building top mile record.
  5. 4 – DISCIPLE – Tempo was against (and pattern) fresh and although last, his late splits were sound. Sat closer and solid 3rd to Monton last time, that horse would be in betting here. Like his mile record too.
Race 4 – Listed Hilton Stks – 3YO – 1400m
  1. 3 – HUSSON EAGLE – Hit line quite nicely in G1 Coolmore on Saturday, he beat home many good 3yo’s there. Time was good (race rated as well as Deep Field’s – older horses) and looks suited 1400m.
  2. 9 – STAVIVA – Closed nicely last time behind Stratum Star who you could argue strongly, was the run of the race in Carbine club here Saturday.
  3. 1 – PRESSING – Slow out fresh, used-up midrace, yet still attacked the line. Great run! Wants 1400m on big track. Needs luck gate 2 and has 58kg but can win!
  4. 2 – ARMADA – Draws out (pattern?) but beat home Husson Eagle in that hot Coolmore Saturday.
  5. 4 – LORD ASPEN – Loosk smart. To 1400m last time and far too good, ran faster time than two other 1400m races on the day, clearly, for older horses. How good?
  6. 15 – GRECO – Wants 1400m badly, as does 14 – LAYZAXYL – Deep race!!
Race 5  – G3 Q.E. Stks – 2600m
  1. 1 – PRINCE OF PENZANCE – Excellent win MV Cup running by Precedence and Au Revoir who just ran 6th and 8th in a Melb Cup! His 11.6 last 200m was fastest all day (at end of 2500m) deleting Lumosty’s race. Hard track and 58kg are queries but the formline is too strong to go against him.
  2. 8 – NOBLE PROTECTOR – Simply outsprinted by Emirates Stks hopeful Contributor last time but was coming back at him on line. Wants this trip now! Beat Signoff home (good 4th in Melb Cup). Go well.
  3. 3 – LE ROI – Solid on-pace in MV Cup and lookers said that ”tops him off”. Has 1.5kg on toppy here too.
  4. 2 – BIG MEMORY – Clear 2nd-best last week behind Signoff who ran so well in Melb Cup. Ran home quite well in Caulfield Cup prior. Must have a case too.
  5. 5 – BRING SOMETHING – Promising/Still on up. Ran over them in Bendigo Cup (pace suited) and nice big track here suits… Chance but is he shade of ”unders”???
Race 6 – G1 Darely Classic – WFA – 1200m
  1. 10 – CHAUTAUQUA – Two outstadning wins this prep, soft wins too, in fast times. Sailed by Temple Of Boom in both, he was wide yet still close-up behind key rivals here in G1 Manikato since. First go WFA.
  2. 2 – LANKAN RUPEE – Did a power of work (ran a 21.3 midrace 400m) yet lasted in G1 Manikato. Big strong win here in Newmarket last time up straight.
  3. 8 – FAMOUS SEAMUS – Underarted. Held-up shade too long then flew home 12-flat last 200m in Manikato which was race-fastest. Always over his odds!!
  4. 9 – TERRAVISTA – Measured-up well WFA in Manikato when charged but just missed them (as did most!). Nice middle draw. Must have a case.
  5. 7 – REBEL DANE – Luckless of late and arguably, wins last two with more room???
  6. 5 – SLADE POWER – wary him here too.. Gate 4???
  7. 11 – CLUSTER – Best blowout hope. Great race!
Race 7 – G1 Emirates Stks – 1600m
  1. 5 – HOOKED – Wide on mad speed in Epsom yet somehow held 3rd (sub 47-secs 1st-800m!) then chased another hot speed (sub 47-secs 1st-800m again) MV at WFA and surged clear long way out, but kept going. He was .2 off the course record. Back to Hcp. well drawn
  2. 9 – LUCKY HUSSLER – Blinkers on last time and wow, did that work, he exploded away from a good field and the race rated very strongly. Mile no issue. Gate? Pattern? Can win!
  3. 11 – BULL POINT – Strong finale (best late splits) of Crystal Mile and 2kg swing on Hooked a plus. Also had very good late splits Caulfield prior given he stayed on (slower) inside lanes.
  4. 6 – CONTRIBUTOR – Nice Oz debut. Beat Noble Protector and Signoff! Back to mile some query but high-class. Goes in!
  5. 2 – THE CLEANER – Also worried about the drop to 1600m but how brave was he in Cox Plate… He was entitled to be beaten 10L on that speed.
Race 8 – G2 Momentum Energy Stks – Mares – 2000m
  1. 9 – SCRATCHY BOTTOM – Nice finale fresh then held-up, and again found line sweetly last time. Now 3rd-up, to 2000m, on big track, off good speed… That is a recipe to see her running very well, at nice odds.
  2. 14 – LADY CUMQUAT – Just forget MV (throat/ feet issues). Go on her top 2nd prior in a race she could not win at the weights and still beat Suavito, since won, and meets her 4.5kg better now. Value too!!
  3. 1 – SOLICIT – Good in G1 Myer Saturday ridden against her normal pattern. The 2000m is no issue. The 58.5kg is not ideal given this is SWP race but still think she is a key winning hope against these B-graders.
  4. 2 – SAUVITO – Wound-up strongly and beat Precious Gem (since won well) latest and looked there like she wanted 2000m.
  5. 12 – SPIRIT OF HEAVEN – Has been luckless of late. She looks to my eye as if 2000m will be no issue. Chance!
  6. 13 – ANAMPOUR – Underrated here Tuesday, she was brave and Precious Gem form ties in, obviously.
Race 9 – Hcp – 1400m
  1. 7 – ECLAIR BIG BANG – Scratched at gates here Saturday. Probably should have beaten In Cahoots last time, that guy gave Deep Field a scare in that race. No issue 1400m. Go well.
  2. 4 – FAST N ROCKING – Back to his best this prep since being gelded. Two wins and one very good 4th when came wide against the race-pattern… In Cahoots won that race, Eclair was 3rd so… Ties in well.
  3. 13 – TELEPATHIC – Lovely trial then terrific return against males in Sydney. Unbeaten 2nd-up. Yes 1400m!
  4. 8 – SWEET AS BRO – All may not have been well fresh, his jump out prior was excellent, his form last prep was excellent. Best blowout hope??
  5. 1 – HENWOOD – Held-up and flashed late fresh, he should have won, and is no 1000m horse these days as a rule. This is his trip, 1400m! Has 58kg but goes in…
RANDWICK
Race 1 – 2YO SWP – 1000m
  1. 4 – CARRIAGES – 1st-start. Showed speed/ability in trial in October sitting deep. Clearly could have won it if let go.
  2. 3 – MINE TWO – Didn’t have ton of luck on debut and wasn’t far away in slick time. No match at all for smart Furnaces 2nd go, but beat 3rd (who has ability) clearly.
  3. 5 – ITALY – 1st-start. Won trial late October, very light ride. Looks a natural speed runner.
  4. 1 – DOMANUS – 1st-start. Trialled quite well also. Had him behind 4 and 5 is all.
Race 2 – 3YO BM70 – 1400m
  1. 8 – SANTAURIO – Tough win on debut then spelled. Shared speed and held on ok behind Wine Tales who looked good thing beaten Flemington Tuesday, they ran time. Weights in favour. The value in tough race?
  2. 1 – GOOD PROJECT – Wide and stuck well fresh then bloused by Wine Tales that same race, he beat Santaurio over a length there but jumps to 59kg and the 3kg swing leans me to the 8.
  3. 7 – HAURAKI – Was $2-to-$2.5 on debut and was far too good Kembla maiden despite being very new to it all. Time was good for the day. There is a stack of upside to him. Come up short but looks smart.
  4. 4 – DEADSET – Ran last but hardly disgraced in Dulcify Stks latest. Beat VRC derby winner Preferment prior, at this trip, on wet. Good scalp!
  5. 2 – CYCLONE – Big win fresh in city maiden and won running away! Good third to Hallowed Crown early last prep reads very well. Little between these.
Race 3 – BM80 – 1150m
  1. 6 – MOHAVE – Did work wide in Crowley behind Kuro here then was pressured early Rosehill before racing away from Confederate who had run second to smart filly Onemorezeta who went to Flemington and ran over Eloping and Tawteen!
  2. 5 – BONSAI – Started short fresh but was very wide, forgive. Thrashed Amanpour prior has since run supe rin strong mares race Flemington.
  3. 3 – FARE WELL – Stayed on slower inside lanes and tempo was no help last time. Girl Guide emerged from the race to run terrific in G1. Loved the fresh run to Turquoise King for this grade. Overs?
  4. 2 – FORT SUMTER – The Road To Summer form from two-back turned out Saturday form. Had excuses last time behind Atmospherical who then won Flemington.
  5. 4 – VALCOT – Luckless behind Fort Sumter before Canterbury win (nice ride) when backed at big odds…
Race 4 – Ranvet Sprint – 1000m
  • 3 – ALBERTO MAGIC – Has become super genuine. Led at good clip last time and beat all-bar Atmospherical (went to Flemington Thursday and impressed) in slick time. Comes back to 1000m, is unbeaten at 1000m, in one of those he beat In Cahoots.
  1. 8 – HOLDER SUNSET – Resumes. Good speed trial win. Led and nailed by Atmospherical (looks good form now!) fresh last prep but beat 3rd easy. Her fresh run prior she led and held 3rd to Vain Queen (looks good form now!!).
  2. 5 – QFIGHTER – Resumes. Ran home well from last in a Bribie Qlty Doomben fresh last prep. Won 2 of other 4 fresh. The 1000m is no issue.
  3. 6 – BALL OF MUSCLE – Resumes. looked terrific early last prep and measured up to Saturday grade behind Amovatio in that campaign. Still on the up it seems!
  4. 1 – TAHITIAN BLACK – Resumes. Trialled OK. Not sure 1000m here with 59kg (and they claim away) but speed on paper suits
Race 5 – BM88 – 1600m
  1. 3 – AMOVATIO – Jumped to mile latest, went back and was on heels turning then flew home in otherwise on-pace race. Fancy sits closer here in a race devoid of speed. Keen he is ready to win again.
  2. 2 – TIMELESS PRINCE – Thought he was good 2nd-up from back/wide in on-pace race and gave him good hope to 1500m last time, he attacked line, but Frespanol was shade too good. Lack of tempo the worry.
  3. 1 – SCORPIO QUEEN – Was not far off some good ones at WFA fresh then home OK to Mahara (won Flemington). Is dual 1600m winner. Mare with 59kg??
  4. 4 – DREAM FOLK – Did work home 2nd-up in on-pace race. 3rd-up to the mile ideal.
  5. 6 – SCOTTISH BORDER – Back in trip latest and worked home…Next best.
Race 6 – F&M BM80 – 1400m
  1. 3 – PARIS MATCH – Terrific return weaving through and just missing. Attacked line for close 3rd to handy Lorna May 2nd-up last prep. Like her Mahara formline! The value?
  2. 1 – BROOK ROAD – Excellent return splitting Boss Lane and Atmospherical then excellent again in Nivison. That form measured up Flemington too. Yes 1400m. Claims down to 60kg. Might be too good for these??
  3. 10 – SHIGERU SENDAN – Ran 8th in Crowley behind Kuro in fast time but her late splits were good, now fitter, to 1400m with no weight for gun young rider… Has a good case.
  4. 6 – PEACE FORCE – Backed heavy latest when month fresh and gave her all, drops in weights. Yet to miss the trifecta at 1400m.
  5. 5 – PILLOW TALK – Wide no cover in same race as Peace Force, she held on well. The Church Boy form is good.
  6. 2 – ALL CERISE – The othe rmust… Back to 1400m a huge plus as do think 1500m sees her out.
Race 7 – BM80 – 1800m
  1. 7 – SO NOSTALGIC – Led and raced away from handy field Canterbury 2nd-up, was backed. His last 1800m run he was on the heels of Rock Sturdy.
  2. 5 – BARGE AND CHARGE – Led/Pressured and held on ok given had no peace last time at 2000m. Grand Marshall won (then won Flemington) beating Saigon Tea (then probably should have won Flemington). To 1800m here. Value / danger.
  3. 2 – VITELLO – Stuck wet 2nd-up then led and beat all-bar one his last couple, both of those winners have since run very well (one won – one 2nd at Flem’ton).
  4. 6 – PERPLEXITY – Ran 9th fresh but it was a race of little change and little guide! To 1600m suits. Has a case at odds too.
  5. 3 – LAURIE’S LOVE – Solid win last time. Back to mile some query to Saturday class but some hope…
Race 8 – BM75 – 1400m
  1. 5 – LOFTY AMBITION – Resumes. Tracked wide and went nicely in trial. Worked early 1st-up last prep and held on well (3rd). Good talent. Needs luck from the draw or pattern in favour. Good enough for any BM75!
  2. 14 – RESPECTED – Top return win then hardly had things pan out well last time. She was terrific closing 3rd when 3rd-up last prep. at 1400m.
  3. 16 – GOD’S IN HIM – Won Seymour maiden fresh and ran time. Suspect he is handy. Obviously had issues. 2nd-emergency so..
  4. 6 – SKARSGARD – Backed heavy fresh and looked gone when headed but showed great fight. The second to Amovatio last prep reads well. On the up. Goes in for sure.
