Memsie Stks Day

Memsie Stks Day

PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for CAULFIELD are for GOOD/ DEAD track. Rail is out 6m. Was 3m here last time with no mad pattern/bias (despite diesel spill) and expecting level playing field with no disadvantage to those on-speed.
In Sydney we are back at ROSEHILL. Ratings are for HEAVY track. Rail is 6m. Was 3m last time and track played beautifully. With heavy ground expecting they will be off the inside lanes pretty quickly. Watch/Monitor though.

BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
CAULFIELD – Race 8 No.2 – BOBAN – Lovely trial then blew start fresh, held-up touch, then flashed late (11.4 last 200m but loved that last 100m!!). Unbeaten in Melbourne last Spring. Top pick.

BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
ROSEHILL – Race 7 No.12 – GREATWOOD – Good/Gallant 3rd on-pace fresh (first Oz start) and much better suited 1800m. He ran 2nd in a stakes race at home his one go wet. Looks the only leader here (and assuming Best Case goes to Melb) so leaning his way.

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD – Race 9 No.17 – BEST CASE – Got lost 1st-up in on-pace race then rattled home tick over 45-secs his last 800m, and 11.04 last 200m, fastest all day. Top return. He closed well in G2 2nd-up last prep on good day for on-pacer’s. Can beat these if they gain a start.. Overs!
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD – Race 2 No.7 – LORNA MAY – Heavily backed 1st-up and made Rock Sturdy really work to beat her. That winner was good prior behind the talented Cluster and, of course, then won again last week. All her dry track form is terrific. 2nd-up last prep she split Interspersed/ Liberty’s Choice.

BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL – Race 3 No.9 – KHALID – Sound late splits here at 1500m then was $10-to-$8 Kenso on wet and produced a big finish to score. He is proven at 2400m at home. Can win and overs for mine $15.
Lay Of The Day:
CAULFIELD – Race 5 No.15 – VAIN QUEEN – Freshened. Trialled fairly. Come up short in deep race and layable at the price.

TOP-RATED RUNNERS:

CAULFIELD
Race 1 – 3YOF BM78 – 1400m

  1. 1 – VEUVELICIOUS – Resumes. Trialled very nicely. Won Fernhill Stks in April with 58kg giving weight to males so she can beat BM78 girls with 58.5kg. Looks wound-up and loosk to have come on! Top-rater.
  2. 5 – WINESEARCH – Won well fresh then no match for handy male Deiheros last time, that winner boasts a G3 3rd to London Lolly/ Go Indy Go. 1400m looks ok. Danger.
  3. 4 – AMICUS – Stuck to his task in Sydney behind Press Report and Liberation, the latter was first past the post and then simply threw away the G3 race last week, he beat the rest ok and wasn’t bad behind Eloping before spell.
  4. 3 – TOP SIGHT – Good return win Bendigo running by Clover Lane (3rd) who then placed to Bring Me The Maid Randwick last week. Veuvelicious safely held her when they clashed at the end of last prep and she only has 1kg swing but has had the run under the belt.
  5. 8 – EMBRACE THE ROCK – Was very new on debut but did close nicely and was $6-to-$4.6 late. Yes 1400m. Has stack of upside but jumps in class.. Has a future.

Race 2 – Mares Hcp – 1400m

  1. 7 – LORNA MAY – Heavily backed 1st-up and made Rock Sturdy really work to beat her. That winner was good prior behind the talented Cluster and, of course, then won again last week. All her dry track form is terrific. 2nd-up last prep she split Interspersed/ Liberty’s Choice.
  2. 3 – ARE THERE ANY – Caught wide, worked forward and went down swinging 1st-up in top effort. 2nd Charmed Harmony won well midweek, her 2nd-up form is good, she is back to her own sex and her form through Text ‘N Hurley/ Five All and Bonaria is good enough here. Chance!
  3. 4 – SUAVITO – Resumes. Outsped in jump out but went OK. Closed hard for 1L 3rd to Solicit fresh last prep in high-rating Kewney Stks. Has the class here for sure. Winning hope.
  4. 6 – NADEEM LASS – Copping a bit of stick for not winning but the reality is her last two she has been trapped wide and run very well for mine. Has fitness edge on a few here. Do think 1400m is as far as she wants.
  5. 8 – WINTA CHILLER – Vet found post-race issues last time. Luckless prior to Sino Eagle who then ran well in Listed Aurie’s Star. Down in weights.
  6. 9 – ANGELIC LASS – Luckless key stage latest and also has claims at odds.

Race 3 – Hcp – 1400m

  1. 8 – HENWOOD – Close-up last week despite carting 59kg (giving weight to some handy sprinters) and being 6-weeks between runs. Like him better at 1400m and maps well here 4th, 5th inside with no weight!
  2. 11 – BASS STRAIGHT – Resumes. Jumpout was good hitting line hard between runners from last. Was not far off Chase The Rainbow/ Star Rolling fresh last prep at 1600m and has won 1st-up. Come up big odds for one who has run well at WFA.
  3. 13 – SPY DECODER – Thought he was good 1st-up Rosehill given he was the best closer in that on-pace race, Maroon Bay 2nd has city/Sat form here, jump to 1400m suits, As a 70-rater he is not well weighted is all (Bass Straight 90-rater). Still, ratings are often much smarter AFTER the race! Goes in for mine.
  4. 3 – PILLAR OF CREATION – Had genuine excuses last time. Prefer him at 1400m anyway. Has won 3 of 4 this track/trip and maps well.
  5. 5 – EXIMIUS – Did win well last time (nice ride/ well weighted/ was backed heavy!) but confidence may be back now and claims down again. He beat Henwood home 14/6 in heat of WC at 1400m (they meet similar weight terms).
  6. 12 – TEXT ‘N HURLEY – Lovely return when run off legs yet still ran home fastest last 200m, clearly! Yes 1400m. Has had little set-back I hear so shuffled down but has the class if 100%…
  7. 10 – SIGNOFF – Resumes. Promising stayer. Watch for him late.

Race 4 – BM78 – 1200m

  1. 9 – LATE CHARGE – Resumes. Looked sharp in trial sitting handy and winning it well. Terrific 3rd in Autumn Stks fresh last prep charging home on tough day for run-on horses. He was under 3L off Shamus Award/ Criterion 2nd-up off a wide run in a G1.
  2. 4 – BY THE GRACE – Resumes. Excellent trial win. Outsped a touch then hit line hard when 1L of Churchill Dancer fresh last prep at this trip. Gives Late Charge 2kg? Leaning that way.
  3. 7 – CELESTAIL CENTURY – Off 9-week freshen. Led/ Kept going to win jump out well 22/8. Back from Hong Kong. When last in Oz he had form around Didn’tcostalot and beat Angel Of Mercy. Wary!
  4. 10 – MARWOOD – Just no match for Play Master latest but that winner had just run very well behind Hard Stride/ Under The Louvre. Would love some jar out but is up to BM78 class for sure.
  5. 16 – SHADES OF BELLA – Good return win given 1000m is not really her go. Was not all that far off Anantina/ Gregers before the spell. Needs touch of luck from the gate.
  6. 3 – PETRIFY – Resumes. Found line quite well when 1.8L off Adamantium/ Pago Rock fresh in March, that run gives him a hope here in 78 grade…

Race 5 – The Heath – 1100m

  1. 2 – RICHIE’S VIBE – Resumes. Brilliant trial win by 6.5L in Adelaide. Unbeaten fresh. Beat Moment Of Change at WFA at this trip in G2 in Jan.
  2. 1 – FLAMBERGE – Resumes. Pace/ Good 2nd to A Time For Julia in jumpout in fastest time of morning, they thrashed 3rd (Lion Of Belfort). Won fresh last prep then was less than 3L off Lankan Rupee in high-rating Oakleigh Plate here, when wide. Can win!
  3. 5 – PAGO ROCK – Resumes. Won 5 x races fresh. Hit line for 2.2L 4th in G1 Lightning Stks at WFA fresh last prep, has 5.5kg swing on Richie’s Vibe and finished right behind him Oaks Day last year. In this too.
  4. 9 – LONHSPRESSO – Resumes. Warmed up late when 3.5L 4th to General Peekay this trip fresh but was found to be lame post-race. All wins have been at 1200m but gets smother gate 1, just needs the luck.
  5. 11 – RIFLEMAN – Top return win then beat all-bar one Randwick off a fast pace and they were .7 outside the course record.
  6. 15 – VAIN QUEEN – Fresh. Trialled fairly. Can win but is short…

Race 6 – Mcneil Stks – 3YO – 1200m

  1. 9 – CHIVALRY – Resumes. Went super in jump out. Ran as well as Nostradamus in Diamond lead-up and in the G1 Diamond behind Earthquake. Always looked to my eye he’d be a better 3yo… Of the trials, looks like that is the case!
  2. 11 – AWESOME ROCK – Resumes. Also going super at jump outs. Looked smart winning start two then ran enormous in G2 Sires to Zululand off wide run.
  3. 12 – FORGIVE AND FORGET – Doubt he loved MV and 1000m was too sharp yet he still found the line well, only Stingray had faster last 400m, he then ran very well here to Get The Nod. Yes 1200m and has real scope. Good roughie !!
  4. 1 – ZULULAND – Ran onto heels and lost momentum fresh but loved the way he went through the line. Won VRC Sires then bumped into Go Indy Go (could be anything) in ATC Sires. Does he want further now, only tiny query.
  5. 2 – BOOMWAA – Had no peace up front latest and battled well… May get out to silly odds here…

Race 7 – Cockram Stks – Mares – 1200m

  1. 3 – GREGERS – Had easy lead but thrashed them 1st-up and scooted home fastest last 200m split all day, her form in high-rating Oakleigh Plate behind Lankan Rupee is outstanding for any mares race. SWP Scale suits.
  2. 6 – A TIME FOR JULIA – Resumes. Outstanding jump out win beating Flamberge (fastest time of morning/ they thrashed 3rd). Sat wide and won well fresh last prep then measured up to G1 class placing to Red Tracer and running well in Coolmore Classic.
  3. 10 – REAL SURREAL – Resumes. Given a squeeze and exploded for top trial win. Close-up 1.3L 4th to Sweet Idea fresh last prep ties in well given her Coolmore run… and recent fresh win over males.
  4. 2 – COMMANDING JEWEL – Resumes. Another trialling brilliantly. The 1000m with 58kg vs males was bit much (bit sharp0 fresh last prep, she then beat Catkins, and A Time For Julia at 1400m. G1 mare. Great race!
  5. 1 – DEAR DEMI – Resumes. Did quicken and won trial well. Covered ground with 59kg and wasn’t far off Catkins fresh last prep. Proven better than mares grade herself.
  6. 11 – HAZARD – Resumes. Have to include off that trial win over Lankan Rupee too…

Race 8 – G1 Memsie Stks – WFA – 1400m

  1. 2 – BOBAN – Lovely trial then blew start fresh, held-up touch, then flashed late (11.4 last 200m but loved that last 100m!!). Unbeaten in Melbourne last Spring. Top pick.
  2. 7 – MESSENE – Trialled well then just missed Sweet Idea fresh. Has this great 2nd-up record and never missed the quinella on dry ground. Ticked the WFA box to some extent last time. Gets gun run!
  3. 11 – SWEET IDEA – Headed by Messene but showed great will to win fresh, there was definite improvement in her accoridng to lookers. Sits on Moment Of Change here. A must.
  4. 3 – MOMENT OF CHANGE – Pleasing return given 62kg! Has great 2nd-up stats, and is 4 from 4 this track/trip, two of those were G1’s at WFA.
  5. 6 – PUISSANCE DE LUNE – Trapped wide fresh and ran quite well given that. Surprised they stay at 1400m is all, fancy he may want further soon but in wider quad on class.

Race 9 – Heatherlie Hcp – 1700m

  1. 4 – BRAMBLES – Swung wide/Closed well WFA last time, he did record 3rd-fastest closing splits. Back to Hcp out to 1700m good recipe! Go well.
  2. 6 – STIPULATE – Resumes. Sat off speed in jump out and quickly shot through for neat win. Better for first Oz prep when ran very well behind highly-rated Our Voodoo Prince and Co. Wary!
  3. 7 – ARALDO – Resumes. Also went very well in jump out. $13-to-$9 in this last year but was ”slaughtered”. Chased Star Rolling into 3rd second-up. Hmmm.
  4. 3 – MR O’CEIRIN – Resumes. Was off similar freshen when bloused on line in this last year with 57.5kg. This race no deeper.
  5. 8 – LET’S MAKE A DEAL – Pleased fresh but Brambles was better. Beaten 3L by Fiorente in Aust Cup 2nd-up last year… Chased Star Rolling. In the mix for sure.

ROSEHILL

Race 1 – 3YO BM70 – 1400m

  1. 7 – FIRST SEAL – Flew home on debut then put away. Good return win Kenso running around 3L faster than the spruiked Himpapawid on same day despite going a touch slower early, her race ”rated” better, so going this way.
  2. 3 – HIMPAPAWID – Bit tardy, covered ground and swept to lead for terrific debut win, no doubt he is smart also, jumps to 1400m but looks like he will eat that. Danger.
  3. 8 – SWEYNESSE – Resumes. Sat off speed/ deep in trial and ran home hard, good trial. Debut win was impressive and looks to have bright future too…
  4. 2 – BURNING PASSION – Walked in Canterbury heavy at $1.40. Ran into a couple of handy ones in two placings prior, one was Sarajevo who then measured-up in strong field here. Good race to start us off!

Race 2 – F&M BM75 – 2000m

  1. 4 – BLAZING DRAGON – Was making ground when copped slight baulk and lost momentum last time, has weight swing today and proven wet. Suited 2000m. Last chance dance though.
  2. 3 – SCARLETTI – Never seen wet but was strong home here last time when just touched off by Forever Crazy out to 1900m. Extra 100m a plus here, she did beat Blazing Dragon there. If handles it, goes close.
  3. 1 – MADE TO ORDER – Found some traffic late when close-up behind Scarletti etc. latest, after claims she is the weight horse from that race, her one go wet was a randwick win in good style.
  4. 11 – DON’T TELL LINDA – Comes through same race as 2nd, 3rd raters, didn’t have ton of luck herself, handled slow but not seen heavy so?
  5. 5 – ZAZPARELLA – Disappointed last time but perhaps she is better leading, is unbeaten heavy so that brings her right back into this… She did start $4F there… Gets another chance.

Race 3 – BM80 – 2400m

  • 9 – KHALID – Sound late splits here at 1500m then was $10-to-$8 Kenso on wet and produced a big finish to score. He is proven at 2400m at home. Can win and overs for mine $15.
  1. 3 – GEORGEY AEROPLANE – Out to 2400m last time and got a bit lost (mile back in small field) but made up plenty of ground, that was a modest tempo, there are 3 of 4 leaders in this so expecting genuine speed, like Bowman up. Handles wet.
  2. 6 – TOHUNGA – Did beat Georgey Aeroplane home there (behind Saigan Tea who’d be fave here) and one go wet was a strong win at 2000m. Query, there is pressure on paper here so tactics key.
  3. 4 – JO JO GIRL – Stays well. Loves wet and very genuine. Just missed Surpass last week. Up in weights here but winning hope wet.
  4. 8 – AY NO DIGAS – Looked gone WFM latest but fought/won at 2200m, that telsl me he will relish 2400m. Tempo/Pressure key. No idea wet.

Race 4 – F&M BM80 – 1100m

  1. 4 – MAYSOON – Forgive the fresh miss (in worst ground/ galloped on). Prefer her at 1100m anyway, her one wet run she was 3.7L off Cosmic Endeavour/ Diamond Oasis here.
  2. 6 – JEMERICA – Had no hope at the weights Vs males last time. Thrashed Thiamandi prior (then won very well) and finished ahead of Morron Bay before that (she was then beaten a lip in Sydney). Loves wet. Go well.
  3. 3 – VALID CONTRACT – Resumes. Shared speed with In Cahoots in trial, was no match but held 2nd and went well. Placed 3 of 4 fresh. Has not seen wet for a while but early in her career she got through it very well.
  4. 1 – OH SO ADORABLE – Good return when collared late by classy one. Has won heavy but failed last two on that surface, with excuses I guess, has won 2nd-up. Claim crucial.
  5. 12 – MAROON BAY – Good against males last time. Proven on Slow ground. Chance but come up fave and unders for mine.

Race 5 – BM95 – 1500m

  • 9 – BEYOND THANKFUL – Stayed on inside here fresh and had sound late splits behind Territory. He thrashed a wet-tracker (World Wide) 2nd-up last prep on heavy WFM at 1600m. Has won 2 of 3 second-up. Senior rider (Bowman) takes over!
  1. 1 – KIRRAMOSA – Top return in WFA Missile Stks when raced tight key stage, thought her run ended late anyway, gets to 1500m. She is the class here and claims down. Hasn’t seen heavy on raceday but bred to handle it, if that helps???
  2. 7 – TOUGHER THAN EVER – He is simply a wet-tracker for mine. Improved out of sight on wet in Rowley Mile last week when looked touch stiff! Always goes in on wet.
  3. 12 – SPY DECODER – Live chance if here not Melb, has handled Slow ground.
  4. 3 – HOOKED – Top return running on in on-pace race, his Derby run on heavy was terrific. Only goes up 100m to 1500m the query but has the class/quality and goes in too.
  5. 2 – LUCKY CHAPPY – Good late in same race as Hooked, this was home 11.28 and Hooked 11.26… It was on-pace race!!

Race 6 – Run To The Roses – 3YO – 1200m

  1. 5 – HALLOWED CROWN – Resumes. Sat off pace in trial, was niggled, ran on hard. Loved the debut win then easily beat the gifted Washington Heights on heavy and spelled. How good?
  2. 11 – SARAJEVO – Didn’t get the tempo, or the galloping room he needed in Rosebud but he was close-up to Scissor Kick/ better Land and that form was franked last week. First go wet.
  3. 7 – SCRATCH ME LUCKY – Resumes. Sat back at tail in trial and ran over them all, he went super. Beat Country Warrior early last prep (that’s the horse 2nd to Hallowed Crown at his debut) then had wet form behind Peggy Jean and Go Indy Go in G1 races. Bit underrated.
  4. 3 – GHIBELLINES – Resumes. Ran on hard under no riding in terrific trial. Was first male home in Slipper on heavy. Best career run was the day they rode him stone cold (missed kick). Suspect that is key.
  5. 1 – ALMALAD – Resumes. Beat a good one in Brazen Beau before spell at 1600m. Has serious upside. 1st-up and first go wet 60kg… Neds to be real good, but may well be…. what odds?
  6. 8 – KUMAON – and 2 – BRAZEN BEAU – Obviously in mix too… Great race.

Race 7 – Premiers Cup – 1800m

  1. 12 – GREATWOOD – Good/Gallant 3rd on-pace fresh (first Oz start) and much better suited 1800m. He ran 2nd in a stakes race at home his one go wet. Looks the only leader here so leaning his way.
  2. 14 – BEST CASE – If here (reasons outlined Caulfield form)…
  3. 2 – OPINION – Went waaay back fresh and made up stack of ground, his last 800m was 45-and-change and last 200m 11.16 so ignore the ”13th” in your form, he went well, he beat Carlton House and Junoob easily on wet 2nd-up last prep.
  4. 5 – HE’S YOUR MAN – Did enough 1300m fresh then strong win 2nd-up 1500m, suspect there is more to come here 3rd-up to 1800m and he handled wet well at home early in the career.
  5. 3 – BONFIRE – His Oz debut was good too, bloused late by Hoylonny. His one wet run at home was 3rd in $320K Criterium Stks at 1600m.
  6. 4 – HOYLONNY – Had a few forgive runs then saved for one run last time and produced his best… His best remember is Sertorius form, Permit form etc.

Race 8 – BM85 – 1200m

  1. 6 – CLUSTER – Scratched last week on heavy-10. Debut was Ok behind on Slow and hasn’t seen wet since. Two top wins this prep and latest over Rock Sturdy reads well, in good time.
  2. 14 – REFLECTANCE – Outstanding trial then looked just about to come with the winner when chopped out fresh. They ran fast time. 1200m suits better. His heavy track ”miss” he was 5th in a G1 BTC Cup!
  3. 3 – MOUNT NEBO – Solid 3rd last week and arguably should have finished bit closer to Diamond Oasis (found trouble when getting off ”slower” inside lanes). Was unbeaten heavy prior. Super effort prior on dry.
  4. 9 – WEINHOLT – Squeezed out early then posted wide last time, forgive! He still kept closing, he still has that Long John form on the CV. Stays on radar for sure.
  5. 5 – TWO BLUE – Resumes. Good speed trial win. Beat You’ll Never/ Mount Nebo on wet fresh last prep! Weights against here but goes in…

Good luck !
