Below is the Archive of our 5 September 2009 Racing Form and Tips, Which We Provided For Our Group 1 Subscribers
SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at CAULFIELD last week on a Good-3 to Dead-4 track. The Rail was out 9m and with the rain during the day, they were quickly off the inside, and in the end were using the entire track, made it tough for punters, would be forgiving of any horse hard on inside rail though.
Run Of The Day:
Hard to miss the finale of HUXSSEN who resumed in Race 7 and rattled late (his 11.32 last 200m was the second-fastest of the day) and in another 20m he would have threatened the winner!!
...Said winner was the extra smart FIRST COMMAND who travelled sweetly and was impressive, he remains unbeaten as a gelding and ran a slick 1-3.66 on affected ground. MASKED ASSASSIN was very honest (had good run) and just held second from HERE DE ANGELS (flies fresh) and HUXSSEN. PILLAR OF HERCULES (2nd-fastest closing sectionals) made a pleasing return but has not saluted since roman times. MAXISUN (ridden back?), BARWN EXPRESS (1st-up off long break) and PINNACLES (fresh) all did more than enough, they had sound closing sectionals. The early split was a solid 34.94 1st-600m.
The feature was the Memsie Stks and MIC MAC measured up nicely to WFA but queries remain, he got away with murder up front (50.17 1st-800m) and only beat a couple of two-milers (EFFICIENT and VIEWED) less than 2lengths... Two scenarios here, 1-The aforementioned two-milers have come back super! 2-This form isn't much chop. Didn't Weekend Hussler win this last year and we said something similar about the slow sectionals, was it an average race?? In saying all that, still think MIC MAC was terrific, he was 2nd-up, first try WFA and by all reports, is a better "chaser". Runner-up WHOBEGOTYOU rattled home despite the slow tempo (3rd-fastest last 200m of the day) and is right on target. EL SEGUNDO (2nd-up) and VALEDICTUM (fresh) had good late splits but no hope off that early split. Interesting that VIEWED made midrace move (pulling/ felt very fresh obviously) and yep, tipping he has come back super indeed...The overall time was 1:24.43 (slower than 3yos in race 1).
Not keen on Race 5 (won by bolter FIGURE OF SPEECH) as a form reference with 1.9L between 1st and 9th. MISS SCARLATTI and LIGHT VISION now fitter may be the ones to follow, MISS MAREN had excuses. They ran 1:44.43 for the 1700m.
In Race 4 STARSPANGLEDBANNER led in 35.37 1st-600m and kept running! The match-fit on-pacer early in the spring hey... TOLLESPRIT (good ride/ saved ground then left the rail and attacked the line) made a nice return, ECLAIR FASTPASS was solid (similar task to runner-up), TICKETS was ok but didn't savage the line (12.03 last 200m compared to winner's 11.92). BRIEFED did attack the line (11.86 last 200m) and wants further now. ROCK THE MOMENT was out-sped when race went on but stuck on well, he wants further also. CROSS STREET (home 11.90) did more than enough. They ran 1:10.25 for 1200m.
The Arrowfield was Race 3 and JAALIPPY sat off a fast pace (34.31 1st-600m) and was strong late, she ran 1-3.77 (just .11 slower than First Command but had earlier use of track and... they went near .6 faster their 1st-600m). VELOCITEA did a good job as she missed the kick 1length. ANNESONG wants 1200m (love her but she was unders at 1100m). TAKE ALL OF ME ran home well from back and did swing wide (run better than looks on paper)... All on-pacers caved in as was the pressure up front.
The Forgive File:
TARIKS (went too hard but doubt good enough anyway), SILENT SOPHIA (wide/ stuck on), BELIEVE'N'SUCCEED (wide on hot pace), MISS MAREN (wide early/ messy race), BAUGHURST (tempo against - ditto anything that went back in Memsie), BEL MER (needs drier), GRAND DUELS (amiss), SHOCKING (slow 50.98 1st-800m gave him no hope - his 11.29 last 200m was the fastest of the day) and DIAMONDS AT DUSK (pulled).
In Sydney racing was at ROSEHILL on a GOOD-3 track with the rail out 2m. Typical Rosehill, no worries running on but off the inside was preferred ground.
Run Of The Day:
Away from the obvious here, think MCCLINTOCK is a moral in his right race, he sat just off a hot, hot pace in Race 8, covered ground yet joined in and beat all-bar winner who had it much softer...
..That winner was FRIDAY CREEK who blew most of us out of the quaddie, certainly was well ridden (off suicidal speed) but still had to be good enough! They ran .67 faster than star mare Madame Pedrille but did go much harder early... Forgive on-pacers here, GOLD TRAIL Was the best on-pacer (ran terrific). Overall time: 1-3.82
The Golden Rose was Race 6 and DENMAN just sprinted so fast !! Rival riders were in awe of his turn of foot (11.45 from 400-to-200m), he was brilliant and ran slick time in 1:22.83. Leaders went mad here too (a sub 47 1st-800m - 46.71 to be precise) is low flying! TRUSTING could be anything, he zoomed home but may go to the paddock now, hope he comes back a mature 3yo in the Autumn.. look out. STRYKER was sound but winner gave him windburn. HUS DER LIEFTEN couldn't quicken but did finish off, wants further. SHELLSCRAPE was very honest. THE MIKADO finished off ok. HEADWAY was back with Trusting at the 600m and managed a virtually identical last 400m split as that horse and did find some traffic issues in the straight. Touch easier please and load-up time!
Race 7 was Premier's Cup and EMPORER BONEPARTE displayed a neat turn off foot (which not many stayers have in this country) and may take a good race this prep, the genuine speed suited and this hurt the favourite VOICE COACH who used some petrol midrace on a good speed to sit handy, he showed good fight when headed too. ENZEDEX EAGLE hit the line nice (matched winner's last 400/200m as equal-fastest of race) and looks ready to fire. INDIKATOR made a very good Oz debut after being 3-wide and working to lead 1000m out, he fought hard when beaten 300m out. Liked this effort. A few here have been given life (Synonym, God's Hand, Kettledrum - if they weren't already in the shame file!?!?). Time was 1:51.03 for 1800m.
The Sheraco Stks was Race 5 and MADAME PEDRILLE rattled off some sizzling sectionals and won in 1-4.49 for the 1100m, it was a modest pace early and the quinella sat 1-2 all way (runner-up SEEKING ATTENTION led) but still impressive the winner. MORE JOYOUS was terrific against the older mares, 1st-up, with weights against, loved the way she knuckled down and chased. ABSOLUTELYFABULOUS made a lovely return (her last 200m was .16 faster than that of More Joyous) but she hasn't saluted for a long while... face value here, excellent return off that slow tempo.
The Forgive File:
EQUABLE (too far back/ nice!), SNOW ALERT (chopped out 100m but doubt was going to feature), ROBBED (wide), DISCO DANCER (never travelled?), ILLUMINATES (no hope 1100m, especially off this tempo), PORSCHED (bit wide), READY TO LIFT (on heels turn/ further), GOLD TRAIL (too much pressure), FIST OF FURY (checked 600m/ finished off well late) and ALLERVITE (was going ok when poleaxed, came again late, tipping went very well... Watch !!).
To today's racing...
PLEASE NOTE :
All ratings for FLEMINGTON are for GOOD track. Rail back to True but this does not necessarily equal leaders' track... Would only be nervous if track became really firm (like Cup Day last year), that seems to be when leaders 'keep rolling'...
In Sydney racing is at RANDWICK and ratings are for DEAD track. Rail 6m (1600m-to-WP) means track should play well (only get nervous about leader bias at this track with rail out further).
BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
FLEMINGTON - Race 7 No.12 - TYPHOON TRACY - Excellent on-pace effort for mine when fresh (sprinted quick/ no match swoopers late and swoopers ran 1st ,2nd ,4th). That form measured up well last week with Whobegotyou. Jungle Ruler etc. Yes 1600m, yes Flemington and drawn for ideal run.
BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
RANDWICK - Race 3 No.3 - MORE THAN GREAT - Smart colt who chased the extra smart Denman in Run To Roses. His 1.3L margin was as close as anything has been to Denman (next best Trusting 1.8L last week). He beat 3rd (Bombay Sling) clearly and was 6-weeks off into the race so may well be even better for it. Gate touch awkward but mighty hard to beat.
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
FLEMINGTON - Race 8 No.14 - CHAMPAGNE HARMONY - Resumes. Worked hard on a hot speed then rolled back to slower inside lanes yet held on to beat all-bar Mic Mac 1st-up last time in. She then won two-straight. Like gate 10 up straight. Really good race. Is $10 right now (had her about a $5 chance) so... she is overs I guess...
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
RANDWICK - Race 4 No.10 - SERENISSIMA - Resumes. NIce trial recently. Attacked the line for close-up .7L 4th to Bhutane Dane in very strong Listed race here/1200m 1st-up last prep. This is a 0-86. This is 1100m (would have been bet of the day if 1200m) but strong speed suits.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
RANDWICK - Race 5 No.13 - EMISSARY - Lovely 1st-up run to my eye (well back/ in little room and hardly punished yet kept closing nicely) this track/class. Won well at Wyong 2nd-up last prep. Much better suited at 1400m. By no means a good thing but can just see her running a very good race at big tote odds...?
TOP-RATED RUNNERS
FLEMINGTON
Race 1 - 3yoF - 1100m
- 8 - AVENUE - Resumes. Created a big impression on debut thrashing her rivals at MV in good time for the night. Half to Virage De Fortune. Likely short odds means playing quinella's here.
- 3 - ORBITING BELLE - Was back last turning off modest pace at MV and hit the line sweetly (home 11.51 last 200m - Black Caviar was 11.66). Doubt there is a Black Caviar in this field. Would have her on top if this race were 1200m not 1100m but straight-track gives them time to balance up and run home... She can win.
- 10 - IRISH LIGHTS - Resumes. Attacked the line and beat all-bar Rostova on debut then found to be shin-sore in the Diamond. Our track spies tell us she is working very well. Go well.
- 12 - NUN FASTER - Comes off a Sale maiden win but... there have been horses beaten out of sight in that race who have come out and won. She looked smart and stable straight to Flemington a good pointer. Best blowout hope?
- 9 - LUCE DEL MARE - Led and just lasted in Adelaide last time. The 1st-up 4th to Orbiting Belle here beaten 1.9L has her in this and gets 1.5kg advantage.
Race 2 - Listed Best Dressed Stks - 1400m
- 2 - BOMBAY SLING - Led the Golden Rose field in 46.71 (that is a sizzling 1st-800m) and thought he held on really well. Beat all-bar Rostova in the Sires in spring his only other 1400m run. Hoping for softer run and double-figure odds catching the fave (and smart) Shamoline Warrior 2nd-up...?
- 8 - SHAMOLINE WARRIOR - Lovely, lovely return Caulfield/1100m finishing 4th to Starspangledbanner/ Eclair Fastpass (both very good last week) and behind him was midweek winner Common Interest. To 1400m ideal. Might simply be too good. Taking the quinella.
- 1 - CARRARA - Covered ground and was far too good fresh at MV. Didn't run much time relative to the day and has 59kg but career poor runs... Zero! Doubt he will start running poorly today. Ran 3rd to Black Caviar his only other 2nd-up run.
- 16 - ALOHA - Ran 1.5L 3rd to Carrara on debut (meets him 4kg better) then spelled. Neat return win at Lakeside and place-getters there have both since run well. Can measure up!
- 11 - RED COLOSSUS - Liked his debut win at Ballarat clearing out despite racing very greenly. Has immeasurable upside. Gate 1 up the straight always makes me nervous but he has a future.
Race 3 - Open Hcp - 2000m
- 6 - MISS SCARLATTI - Was close-up 1st-up then loomed to win 2nd-up but just didn't finish off but was 1400-to-1700m and she is a big gross mare who would have needed that (and raced like she needed that). Quick back-up a positive, 2000m a positive and her Flemington form is excellent.
- 1 - LIGHT VISION - Handicapper hasn't missed him but he too loomed a bit at Caulfield last week when only 2nd-up and fancy that tops him off for this. Unbeaten this track/trip. Carries weight well.
- 8 - CAPE D'AMORE - Found 1519m a bit sharp when sprint went on at MV last time. Desperate for 2000m (he won his only 2000m run and with 53kg, from gate 2, he will run well and $12 looks overs...
- 11 - FORDEE - Very good 1st-up 3rd here to Driffield Gold at 1410m flashing home from last off a moderate tempo. Good 2nd-up horse (he won 2nd-up last prep) and in light. Small-ish field suits.
- 9 - LADY AVACAN - Kept closing last time (4th-fastest last 200m) and was looking for further than the mile there, gets to 2000m today and suspect the vast spaces of Flemington will suit her. Her last 2000m run she beat all-bar Miss Maren in Listed grade.
Race 4 - Hcp - 1400m
- 8 - DIAMONDS AT DUSK - Had excuses last week when pulled hard off a slow speed and boxed on ok. A few gear changes here. He held on well in a much better race than this two-back and he won his only other 1400m run. No moral but $31 fixed odds as I type this is crazy.
- 11 - TRUSTUS - Held-up touch turning then hit the line nicely at MV but was nervous the drop to 1200m, with a 7m rail at MV, would play against him, and it did but he ran very well. Raced 3-wide and ran a terrific 1.2L 4th to Jeuneyman at 1400m prior. Weighted to win. Goes close.
- 4 - DR DOUTE'S - Resumes. Has had genuine excuses his last two fresh runs in better races than this. Flemington horse but gate certainly a concern. Winning hope with even luck.
- 3 - JUNGLE RULER - Had excuses (and outclassed at WFA) in Liston Stks two-back then led at a walk (51-seconds 1st-800m) and won last week. Crosses from the wide gate. Any rain a bonus.
- 12 - WIND SHEAR - Went forward before the turn last time and battled well to run 3rd to Miss Maren (better race than this). Back to 1400m no issue.
Race 5 - G2 Lets Elope Stks - Mares - 1400m
- 11 - TOOTSIE - Covered a stack of ground at her Oz debut and battled gamely for 4th to Cats Whisker. Has won 2 of 3 second-up and has 3 x 1400m wins. Nice middle gate. Can run well in very tough race.
- 13 - BELLEZA VELOZ - Sizzling last 100m to get up and win at MV despite the worry 1200m was a touch sharp. Yet to win at 1400m but fancy 14-1600m will be her go as she matures. There looks enough speed for her on paper here. Good hope.
- 4 - FLYING RUBY - Excellent fresh run coming from last in slowly run race (11.25 last 200m was 3rd-fastest of the day) and her 2nd-up form is very good. She came from last to win here 2nd-up last prep (again off modest tempo, in big field giving near "impossible" start). A slick early sectional would suit her very nicely...
- 6 - CATS WHISKER - Had soft run on the speed fresh but was tough holding off one who does not shirk it at the end of her races (Annesong). Fitter here, proven 2nd-up and likes Flemington.
- 1 - ROMNEYA - Battled a bit fresh but a few gear changes tells all may not have been well. She won a G2 race beating Lamarr 2nd-up last prep. Expecting much better.
- 9 - ESTEE - Enormous fresh run when made ground midrace off the track and held off all-bar Belleza Veloz. Tiny, tiny query is her often 'flat one' 2nd-up...???
Race 6 - G2 Danehill Stks - 3yo - 1200m
- 10 - BLACK CAVIAR - Won as expected when resuming off two dominant wins her first prep and ran faster time the G1 performed Secret Flyer in her Flemington win on debut... as a 2yo!!! How good ?
- 2 - DELAGO BOLT - Forget ran 1st-up when hung and ran off the track. He won well his only other 2nd-up run and was the hard luck story of the Golden Slipper.
- 1 - MANHATTAN RAIN - Resumes. Been trialling well (including a jumpout down straight here midweek). Yet to run a bad race and kept improving in his first prep. Hard to beat.
- 8 - GRAND HARMONY - Stylish 1st-up win at Seymour running useful time and beat Fancy Pants who is nommed for a Cox Plate. Went very well in a jumpout here during the week. Blowout hope.
- 4 - RAREFIED - Went back last time, got the inside runs but did go straight past Shellscrape who then was an honest 5th to Denman in a Golden Rose last week. He broke 1-10 for 1200m there...
Race 7 - G2 Makybe Diva Stks - WFA - 1600m
- 12 - TYPHOON TRACY - Excellent on-pace effort for mine when fresh (sprinted quick/ no match swoopers late and swoopers ran 1st ,2nd ,4th). That form measured up well last week with Whobegotyou. Jungle Ruler etc. Yes 1600m, yes Flemington and drawn for ideal run.
- 11 - PREDATORY PRICER - That was some win in the Liston (charged up like a very good horse) and how many Sydney-siders win at Caulfield at their first try at that track?? He just held off Whobegotyou who was then one of the runs of the day last week. Gets good smother from gate 1. Mile ideal now.
- 10 - HEART OF DREAMS - Was back with Predatory Pricer/ Whobegotyou before the turn in the Liston and found the line super going for narrow runs between (quinella swung wider in more galloping room). 2nd-up last prep he rattled home for third to Fravashi from a mile back on a leaders' track. Yet to run a bad race.
- 7 - VIGOR - Top 1st-up run to Raffaello when had little luck (Ollie got a holiday for knocking a few down). Fitter/Further suits. Untried at WFA but he will measure up you'd think... Key player this spring.
- 4 - RED RULER - Ridden very quietly fresh and ran home in 11.46 last 200m (tick faster than Heart Of Dreams). Fitter/Further suits but does he need one more...?
Race 8 - G3 HKJC Stks - 1200m
- 14 - CHAMPAGNE HARMONY - Resumes.
- 11 - SWIFT ALLIANCE - Real talent who's only defeat was at the hands of the then flying Youthful Jack in track record time. Beat a good field at Randwick last time and stays down in weights. Nice gate. Goes very close you'd think !
- 7 - MIDNIGHT MUSTANG - Had the good run off the good speed and won easily at G3/WFA in Adelaide last time. His straight form is terrific as is his 1200m form. Rarely lets you down. Winning hope.
- 4 - KRONER - Should have won the G2 Premiere outright for mine last time when held-up at a key stage whilst dead-heater led (and had it soft up there). Away from WFA. This trainer knows how to prep one for a straight race !!!
- 9 - RAHEEB - Resumes in new stable (M.Price). Loaded with ability but didn't come up last prep. Delete that campaign and he can win this. The fresh run prior was a great second in fast time in a Concorde Stks behind Typhoon Zed (Theseo was 5th).
Race 9 - Hcp - 1700m
- 8 - SPEED GIFTED - Resumes. Created a big impression winning here/1620m at his Oz debut in May spotting them a big start and won running away! Competitive to G2 level in homeland. Tough end to quaddie but suspect this guy will be a spring player!
- 2 - YOUNG CENTAUR - Loved his 1st-up run making nice ground depsite being hardly ridden (was in traffic) in the run home. Has 2nd-up form and may want touch further now and concerned by lack of tempo on paper... Good horse this.
- 4 - HSSING SID - Certainly did enough 1st-up in on-pace race won by La Rocket at 1519m/MV. Both 2nd-up runs have been very good. Where does he get to from gate 16? Goes in quaddie.
- 5 - RED LORD - Given no hope 1st-up, forget that. Was doing good late work last week off a ridiculous 51-second 1st-800m and desperate for 1700m. He won 3rd-up last prep. Won't be too far away from gate 3. Can win.
- 13 - VANDALO - Was flying before luckless run last week. Needs luck weaving through from gate 1 but goes in.
- 15 - ACOSTA - Flemington specialist who had every chance last week. Goes in wider quaddie.
RANDWICK
Race 1 - 81RB F&M Hcp - 1600m
- 4 - PERMISSION TO LAND - Finished off well in Listed grade 1st-up (in on-pace race) and drops to a 0-81 and steps to 1600m, in a small field. Bit nervous as she was a bit 'flat' 2nd-up last prep but she can certainly win this on her 2nd-up run two preps back (Close-up 2.6L 7th to Vigor at Caulfield).
- 6 - STREET LOVER - Ran super at Newcastle from back and wide then stormed home to win at Canterbury out to 1580m (like it when they win 'running away')... Small field suits her also.
- 3 - PRINCESS QUALITY - Bolted in last week back to 1400m. Didn't finish off prior at 1500m? Steps to 1600m as short-priced favourite here? Might blow them away but I will be playing small away from her at the value.
- 2 - MATCHLESS - I'm no fan but she is genuine (without winning) and comes in well relative weights today so has a case as had won to 1550m.
Race 2 - 86RB Hcp - 2400m
- 1 - RED BUTTONS - Beat Pacino at Caulfield/2000m two-back then battled gamely on-pace there last time (beat Streetfighter). To 2400m (has been in quinella 4 of 5 at 2400m). He raced in Sydney early in his career. Astute stable, astute claim.
- 2 - STREETFIGHTER - All honours to him last time this track/trip as he was forced 3-wide from the 800m and beat a few key rivals today, he had softer runs! Claim is clever. Was 2.4L off Red Buttons prior at 2000m/Caulfield. Goes well.
- 6 - COOL DREAMER - Chased Streetfighter home this track/trip last time and you can make a case he turns the tables here as he was 2nd-up, 1550m-to-2400m, and may well be 'lengths fitter'...?
- 3 - STRIKE ONE - Super honest (top-3 eight straight) and worked home soundly for 2.2L 3rd to Streetfighter here/2400m latest. Can he turn tables (remember winner was wide from 800m) with negative .5kg differential ???
- 4 - BAHA - Might be ready to do something. Finally gets to 2400m, 4th-up on quick back-up and did finish off ok latest...
Race 3 - Listed Ming Dynasty 3yoC&G - 1400m
- 3 - MORE THAN GREAT - Smart colt who chased the extra smart Denman in Run To Roses. His 1.3L margin was as close as anything has been to Denman (next best Trusting 1.8L last week). He beat 3rd (Bombay Sling) clearly and was 6-weeks off into the race so may well be even better for it. Gate touch awkward but mighty hard to beat.
- 2 - OFFHANDED - Good return 3rd to stablemate Rarefied here at 1200m (winner did go straight past) but this guy is fitter now and wants 1400m. Gets soft run from gate 1 and fave may have to do some work?
- 1 - ONEMORENOMORE - Has hampered by Delago Bolt's antics when resuming and finished off ok... The run was better than it looks. Wants every bit of 1400m but has to cart 60kg being a G1 winner.
- 5 - EXCEED WITH ME - Beat all-bar Trusting two-back then led and won well Canterbury beating Finishing Card (not seen since/ does look handy). 1400m no worries.
- 4 - ROMANUS - Is he a wet-tracker?? Did just enough 1st-up. Stable and track-riders rave about how he is going and desperate for the extra ground... Keen to see how he goes here...
Race 4 - 86RB Hcp - 1100m
- 10 - SERENISSIMA - Resumes. NIce trial recently. Attacked the line for close-up .7L 4th to Bhutane Dane in very strong Listed race here/1200m 1st-up last prep. This is a 0-86. This is 1100m (would have been bet of the day if 1200m) but strong speed suits.
- 6 - LOVE AND KISSES - Resumes. Ran 3L 9th to Rock Me Baby/ Samantha Miss 1st-up last prep in G2 grade. This is a 0-86. Good class mare. A danger !
- 3 - MEGEM'S BOY - Off back-to-back wins and rarely runs a bad race. Has won 3 of 5 on firm tracks. Has an 1100m win by 8lengths in wet. Match-fit.
- 7 - LONE COMMAND - Resumes. Smart win in maiden grade 1st-up last prep. Went on to win here at 1400m in good style in 0-81 class. Looks an improver. In the mix.
- 8 - FLY HIGHER - Resumes. Ran an even 7.6L 7th to Typhoon Tracy 1st-up last time in at 1200m. Bit scared 1100m too sharp but good class and has trialled well. Having first run for G.Walter.
Race 5 - 86RB Hcp - 1400m
- 13 - EMISSARY - Lovely 1st-up run to my eye (well back/ in little room and hardly punished yet kept closing nicely) this track/class. Won well at Wyong 2nd-up last prep. Much better suited at 1400m. By no means a good thing but can just see her running a very good race at big tote odds...?
- 5 - HANDSUPFORDETROIT - Sat on the speed 1st-up and was quickly headed but fought hard all the way home and note, he won 2nd-up last prep (ridden with cover) and will be ridden with cover today. Goes close !
- 3 - DRUMBEATS - Resumes. Smart horse who beat all-bar Montana Flyer 1st-up last prep then split Heart Of Dreams and Caymans and had little luck before stylish Flemington win. Untouched in recent trial. A must.
- 10 - PATRONYME - Good effort 2nd-up sitting on a strong speed and kicking before being run over late by Motspur (who had cosy run). Liked the fight she showed when headed and she beat a few who go quite well. Peaks. Claim helps. In quad.
- 9 - MADIBAGOLD - Heavily backed and won going away Kenso/1400m last time. In with 54kg and drawn for good run off good speed.
Race 6 - G2 Chelmsford Stks - WFA - 1600m
- 3 - COURT COMMAND - Did a power of early work in the Warwick Stks yet still travelled well into the straight before being swamped late. Peaks 3rd-up and gets much, much softer run on the speed map here. Little between he and O'Lonhro... just hoping he pinches it turning...
- 8 - O'LONHRO - Found Swift Alliance a shade too good 1st-up (good form! Beat 3rd easy) then gave his all in Warwick Stks beating all-bar Trusting (then super in Golden Rose). Looked a touch one-paced there (1st try WFA) so desperate for 1600m to my eye. Like the quinella here.
- 1 - VISION AND POWER - Went back and worked home nicely 1st-up under no real riding. He won 2nd-up last prep and is fitter. Can win if allowed to...
- 2 - TRIPLE HONOUR - Covered ground in modestly run Premiere Stks and stuck on super. Ran 3L 5th to All Silent/ Forensics 2nd-up last prep. Any rain a bonus.
- 11 - MISS DARCEY - Resumes. Handy mare who won 1st-up last time in here at 1200m. Went on to G3 win and G3 placing.
Race 7 - G2 Furious Stks 3yoF - 1400m
- 1 - MELITO - Touched off by Deer Valley fresh but is fitter now and gets nice 3kg advantage on that underrated galloper this weight-scale. She won 2nd-up her only other run. Nice alley. Quite keen.
- 2 - SO ANYWAY - Was last 600m out, held-up a touch then stretched out in good style behind Deer Valley/Melito in what was an on-pace race. She won 2nd-up last time in also. Fixed odds have her $15 (Melito $3.20)... gate awkward I concede that but suspect her true odds are more like $6.50...
- 11 - LITTLE SURFER GIRL - Good filly. Mile back/Wide/Enormous two runs back then stepped to 1400m, had it softer and won is very good style last time. Gate awkward here too but this daughter of Special Harmony looks an Oaks filly to me...
- 6 - DEER VALLEY - Arguably should have won at lovely odds two-back then touched-off Melito last time, yes she had fitness edge, yes she has weights against today but we never knock winners here! Underrated filly.
- 5 - SPEEDY NATALIE - Very smart debut win in Adelaide then one-paced second go when clearly looking for further than 1200m. The 1400m is a big tick here. Gets right run from gate 1. Wouldn't shock at all.
Race 8 - G3 Tramway Hcp - 1400m
- 6 - ALBERT THE FAT - Stack of hopes here. Great race! Thought he measured up very well last time at first Sydney run when back (was wide early and pulling) before finishing off nicely. Winner Swift Alliance ran Flemington earlier for form ref. Like him at 1400m and well drawn/weighted.
- 5 - JUDGED - Ridden too close 1st-up? Anyway, she didn't finish off (but went ok) and her 2nd-up record is excellent. She was a G3 winner here/1300m 2nd-up last prep. Great dry-track record too.
- 15 - IVORY PEGASUS - No fluke about her win here fresh at 1200m (unsuitable trip).. She zoomed her last 100m! She won 2nd-up last prep. Is in light. Goes in !!
- 4 - ROAD TO ROCK - Resumes. Beat all-bar the talented Largo Lad (by a lip) 1st-up last prep at Flemington/1200m. He then won two straight. Gifted horse. Trialled nice.
- 12 - CENTENNIAL PARK - Carted 59kg fresh and was too good (despite missing the kick). Unsuited leading 2nd-up last prep on heavy ground with rail off. Plummets in weight.
- 8 - BRYANNBO'S GIFT - Crossed the line with Albert The Fat last time when only 1st-up. Has won 2 of 3 second-up. Obviously has a case too.
- 10 - RANGIRANNGDOO - Also in the mix for wider (very wide!!) quaddies...
Good luck !
