Below is the Archive of our 12 July 2008 Racing Form and Tips, Which We Provided For Our Group 1 Subscribers
SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK
Racing was at FLEMINGTON last week on a Dead track, the Rail was True. There was no significant pattern on the day bar for the outside rail being quicker in straight races.
Run Of The Day:
Going with CHIEF CHARGINGBEAR who ran very well despite the "7th" on your formguide, his rider started up the middle of the course before switching to the slower inside rail. Despite the work, he battled on super for a close-up 3rd on that side.
In that race the winner PRINCESS GISELLA was able to track the runner-up, peel to the centre and finish too well, said runner-up was COMMANDING HOPE who is flying. Showed great fight. DANDY DOLLAR looked gone 300m out but came again and TRANQUILITY BASE co-led, boxed on well out there... These four all came outside. First inside was GENTRY who ran over HEART, would love to see both in something a touch easier.
Time was: 1:9.84 for the 1200m off a 35.5 1st-600m.
To race 1 and there was a 2-horse war up the straight between EXCELLTASTIC (joined in quickly, showed fight) and GEORGIA'S BOY (every chance/ game) and they beat the rest easily. BARTHOLDI ran home well through narrow gaps, his last 400m sectional was bettered only by the quinella. NEW APPROACH (ran home well) & ROAR SPEED (hit line from last/ 3rd-fastest last 200m split) were noteworthy efforts.
Time: 1:24.82 off a 48.73 1st-800m.
In Race 6 STAVKA impressed, he was only 2nd-up off a long, injury-enforced spell and like the way he came away late! JUGGLE THE BOOKS battled on well but was no match. BEXAAR hit the line well but be careful with him, he flies fresh and now that run is over, and he rarely wins. Good sectionals from BOWHUNTER late. Time: 1:9.69 off a 35.66 1st-600m (not much faster than 3yos!)
In Race 7 (WC Final) the leaders did not go hard (50.46 1st-800m) and SEA BATTLE had the gun-run and just wore down ROCKPECKER, they had a good battle, two smarties. MAGNETIC ran on super off said modest tempo, SCENIC SILVER struck trouble at a vital stage and should have finished closer. OKAY OKY was typical (hit line). Overall time: 1:37.35
In the last the leaders walked (51.04 1st-800m) and amazingly, swoopers ran 1-2-3-4, they were: JUST LIKE EL (like the way she stretched out), SISULA (fastest last 200m of the day), WITH APOLOGIES (joined in, just no match) and POTOMAC (from clear last turn/ 2nd-fastest late splits). Overall time: 1:25.72
THE FORGIVE FILE:
FLINDERS WAY (very wide), SKIPPED BAIL (wide/worked), MIDARRI DAN (wide run), HIDDEN WONDER (rider changed mind/ switched to inside rail), CODE BLACK (ditto), PROSPECT (1600m???), O'REILLY'S CLOCK (never fully clear), SNORT (back/ wide), CHIACK (3wide), SPARKLING SATINE (ran out of room... may have won!?), TRY THIS (wide) and MOYLAN (no luck last 200m).
In Sydney racing was at ROSEHILL on a Dead track, the rail was out 6m. Winners were off the inside rail, no shock.
Run Of The Day:
Looks like CRUMS is in for a very good campaign, he came from a clear last (had best sectionals) in an on-pace dominated race and hit the line sweetly.
In that race: INNINGS sat closer than he has in his life (good timing, on-pacers dominated) and beat COCORURU who was in for the fight! SOMETHING ANYTHING gave his all (as always) and UPPER ECHELON returned to form. NEWTON'S RINGS and IMAGINING hit the line Vs the race pattern. They ran 1:25.37 for the 1400m.
In the first the blinkers switched on MIRABEAU who led all the way. Love the way BEAUCOUP hit the line (best sectionals). CONFOUNDED (wide with massive weight) was one of the runs of the day! BONDIT also hit the line (2nd-fastest late sectionals) the run was better than your formguide shows.
Their 1:11.38 was faster than older horses later in the day.
The aforementioned older horses were KENNY'S WORLD (Race 4) who was strong to the line beating THE DREAM CATCHER (every chance) and YOBURG (led/ was backed/ gave his all). GENTLY BENTLY gave them a big start! Had best closing secs. Time: 1:11.72
In Race 6 STAR OF CROWN was simply too strong off a solid tempo (three leaders duelled up front) and ran 1:11.64 for the 1200m. SCISSION came wider than the winner and ran home very well. Good run. SPECTACULAR BIRD was never likely but did hit the line and only Star Of Crown had a faster last 200m split.
In Race 7 UNIVERSAL COLOURS just did the better (there were four runners across the track 200m out) and did a good job coming from off midfield. ANDOLINI got moving late, ran well, further now? WARBURG was close-up in the busy finish and KETTLEDRUM loomed, didn't finish off, that may top him off !? CHE CASINO was game on-pace.
THE FORGIVE FILE:
NO NAME FOR A LADY (upside/down), XAVIER (slow out/ gave big start), VISION AND POWER (needs wetter), HANZBANANZ (amiss), SIMBURGH (wide on speed), DELAGO DIAMOND (came wide) and FANCYFREE (wide on speed).
To today's racing...
PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for MOONEE VALLEY are for SLOW-6. Rail True so be off the inside fence! Run-ons can win pending tempo...
In Sydney racing is at Canterbury on a SLOW -7. Rail True. This track can certainly play to on-pacers so must watch/monitor, in saying that, it is often only a savage leader-bias with the rail out... Much prefer Rosehill....
BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 5 No.3 - SCENIC SILVER - Flying this prep. Beat Sea Battle with blinkers 1st time at Hillside then was strong home at Bendigo in WC Heat. Thought he was a touch unlucky in the WC Final (but wouldn't have tested the quinella). Comes back a notch or two here and is in with 53kg after the claim for gun apprentice. Very keen!
BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
CANTERBURY - Race 8 No.4 - MULAMAN - Tried very hard but couldn't catch the flying Grand Commander last time at 1400m. Has placed out to this trip, is yet to run a bad race in seven runs this prep and this race lacks depth !
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
CANTERBURY - Race 6 No.10 - BONCOEUR - Found this a tricky race but this guy did find the line well 1st-up behind the flying Garden Island at 1100m and is suited to 1250m. He was 3.4L off Element 2nd-up last prep and has won 2nd-up in the past. Handles wet well. Is genuine.
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 2 No.5 - JUSTSAY SUMTHINK - Very genuine mare back to her own sex here. She split O'reillys Clock (no luck in WC Final last week) and Magnetic (3rd in said final) at her last start. Good effort prior hitting the line against the race pattern (on-pacers). Meets Wavelength better at the weights for beating her. Loves wet.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 8 No.5 - DANES MYSTERY - Gave his all at Flemington 1st-up (first start in East) but peaked late, fitter now and note, he is unbeaten (3 from 3) 2nd-up in WA. He won his only wet track run. Can win.
TOP-RATED RUNNERS:
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 1 - 2yo - 1200m
- 5 - BUCKETS - Good effort 1st-up when raced on the (good) speed in a race where 1st (Whobegotyou - smart), 2nd ( Georgia's Boy - since run well), 3rd & 5th were all swoopers. Fitter. Lots of queries here...
- 1 - FOOTY LEGEND - 1st-start. Looks a likely type. Won a trial nicely back in January then spelled. Dam had five to the races, they have all won. In good hands.
- 6 - YESTERDAY - Like the way she hit the line on debut at Bendigo (Vrc meeting) despite the betting drift. She ran past Two Hills who ran well Sandown Wednesday on Hillside (the worst track in Australia when it's wet, give me Werribee over that pile of...) Has improvement to come!
- 10 - MISS EVASIVE - 1st-start. No trials but in top stable and her Dam was the very smart (G1 winner/ ultra-competitive with Northerly) Magical Miss. Big watch !
- 7 - CATS WHISKER - Led and won eased down on debut when backed off the map. The form from that race has been a bit average so far but she could have won by more!
Race 2 - Mares - 1600m
- 5 - JUSTSAY SUMTHINK - Very genuine mare back to her own sex here. She split O'reillys Clock (no luck in WC Final last week) and Magnetic (3rd in said final) at her last start. Good effort prior hitting the line against the race pattern (on-pacers). Meets Wavelength better at the weights for beating her. Loves wet.
- 3 - BROLAGO - Terrific win last time coming from well back in a race where the leaders walked. That was on her preferred wet ground. Can win if track slow or worse, less confident on Dead-4, prefer others if dry.
- 1 - WAVELENGTH - Like the way she found the line in that strong heat of the WC Heat (O'reillys Clock etc) when only 2nd-up. Back to own sex and peaks 3rd-up. Note, 3rd-up last prep she ran a very good 2nd to Wayne's Gold at Flemington.
- 6 - KINDRATE - Good effort this track/trip last time after coming wide. Forgive the Hillside flop prior when ridden on the speed. Big win (here) three-back. Handles all conditions. In this.
- 2 - JACQUELINE ROUGE - Didn't measure up in the WC Final. She ran well on-pace (in on-pacers race) prior against the girls. Pattern/Tempo here relevant, suspect she will have company up front but they won't go 'mad'.
Race 3 - B.Smith Hurdle - 3200m
- 1 - HOOKER ROAD - Yet to run a bad race over the jumps (worst finish 2nd) and loves MV. His win here last start was terrific as he was pressured early but kept going. Top-pick.
- 5 - DESERT MASTER - Makes his jumps debut. Keeps missing the kick, doubt that will matter over the jumps. Has schooled well and has flat ability !
- 2 - BULLECOURT - Racing very well over the jumps. Fell in the Grand National when midfield and going ok. Went early at Hillside prior and was game.
- 6 - MYBIGFATGREEKHORSE - Makes his jumps debut. Ran 3rd of 5 in his hurdle trial at Moe. Last flat run was sound as he was annoyed in front mid-race. In top stable.
- 7 - THISONESONME - Hit the line ok at his jumps debut last start. Out to 3200m & better for that experience are the big ticks. Chance here.
Race 4 - Steeplechase - 3700m
- 3 - SHROGGINET - Been in his corner for a while. Was unluckily brought down by a fall last time. The race didn't pan out for him prior coming wide. Fell before that. Overs?
- 7 - WAR DANCER - Was in betting in the Crisp Steeple but fell early. He beat all-bar Sand Sweeper prior (here at this trip) at his Oz debut.
- 5 - FRENZILIAN - Forget he ran last time when poleaxed midrace. Battled ok at Sandown prior. Nice win here three-back when backed heavy.
- 4 - AL GARHOOD - Won the Brierly at the Bool and won easily at Hamilton last time making it two from his last three jumps runs. Struggled behind Toulouse Lautrec in-between those. This is winnable.
- 10 - PASCO - Won well at Casterton two-back then was a $9 chance in the GN Hurdle but fell a lap out. Back in grade/trip.
Race 5 - Hcp - 1600m
- 3 - SCENIC SILVER - Flying this prep. Very keen!
- 5 - HADDLE MCDADDLE - Forgive last run when unsuited coming back in trip on a firm track. Battled on gamely here prior. Loves the MV/1600m circuit and would love a slow track.
- 7 - BOLLE - Good effort last time when slow out and surged to the front 100m out before being grabbed by city-class mare Hi On Love. Forgive Bendigo prior at the VRC meeting. In with 50kg after the claim and if gate 1 doesn't ruin his chances, he is the best roughie here.
- 6 - PACKING SUCCESS - Comes back a notch or two from the WC Final when 2L off Scenic Silver (meets him 1kg worse). Well-drawn, good miler and in the mix but behind the 3 given even luck.
- 10 - SPEEDYMAC - Forgive the run here two back from gate 1 (no help). Found the line well at Flemington last time. All his wet track form is good... Each-way.
Race 6 - Hcp - 2040m
- 6 - WE WONDER - Last chance dance. Was out-sprinted last time at Flemington off a sound effort on heavy at that Hillside track. Overcame difficulties to score three-back. Out to 2040m looks a plus (won only go this trip) and will be double-figure odds.
- 1 - CLAVILLO - Was close-up in a blanket go here last time off a nice run (here) prior hitting the line. Loves this track/trip and sting out. This touch easier than latest ?
- 7 - MISS PERCIVAL - May be 'overs' here also. Like the way she hit the line 2nd-up at Flemington after being held-up and well-back turning. Did a similar thing 1st-up in a race totally dominated from the front. Double-figure's too? Goes in !
- 4 - JOONTOO GEMINI - Very genuine on-pace mare. A handy horse Doin'thehardyards had her beaten 100m out at Lakeside but she fought back and was going away on the wire. Formlines tie her in here and she loves it wet.
- 3 - JOHNNY KNOXVILLE - Not one of mine but was ok here last time (that form good) and is yet to miss a place in four goes this track/trip.
Race 7 - 3yo Hcp - 1600m
- 1 - MA SHANG - Like the way he finds the line. He beat a good field at Flemington last time at his first go 1400m. Certainly expecting the mile to suit and not crucified at the weights yet. Keeps improving.
- 6 - HISSING SID - Thought he would have won last time if he ran straight (layed-in). Was strung-up in traffic most of the straight prior at Lakeside and was close-up in what has been a good form race (Sanpan etc.). Another in the 'keeps improving' file.
- 7 - ACELAND STREET - Handy filly. Was close-up in a hot off-season race at Flemington (Red Element/ Beaming) then dropped in grade, rose in trip and was never in doubt last time. Well-weighted.
- 9 - TRY THIS - Best roughie here. Raced wide no cover last time and never gave in. Prefer her out to the mile than the 1400m and she has run well here. Needs to get off the inside at about the 700m and can can home hard.
- 12 - ROBDON FLYER - Like him but back in trip a tiny query today. He had the fastest last 200m split here last time at 2040m. Big win at Mornington prior. In very light. A hope at odds...
Race 8 - Hcp - 1000m
- 1 - KAPHERO - One time 'gunna' who has become very genuine. Keeps winning easily with big weights. Up to 61.5kg here and will have company in the lead but from gate 13 he may get to the right spot and be able to win again. Just loves MV/1000m. Taking a few in quaddie though...
- 5 - DANES MYSTERY - Gave his all at Flemington 1st-up (first start in East) but peaked late, fitter now and note, he is unbeaten (3 from 3) 2nd-up in WA. He won his only wet track run. Can win.
- 4 - APPLE LODE - Came home well but no match for Kaphero 1st-up (gets 2.5kg weight-pull) then was held-up and launched late beating home Danes Mystery. Good wet-tracker peaking and pace on/drawn out the big ticks.
- 12 - CANDY MAN - Ran well 1st-up at Flemington behind Apple Lode/ Danes Mystery and Co. at big odds. Didn't come up last prep but looks to have come back well and he boasts two 2nd-up wins (one was in an $80k Sale Quality - always a good race).
- 2 - THREEDEE - Flying this prep. Tiny query back to 1000m from inside gate especially as one of the fave's but cannot knock and he loves MV. Top jock helps.
CANTERBURY
Race 1 - 3yo 81RB Hcp - 1550m
- 6 - RAIN GAME - Was badly checked midrace at Hawkesbury then charged late. Should have won easily! Wasn't bad in town on heavy prior behind Mulaman when only 2nd-up. Promising gelding.
- 3 - LAP OF HONOR - Made a pleasing return at Rosehill when kept closing (was blanket finish/ Kettledrum has come through that race and ran ok last week - Peaked 100m out he did). This guy led and ran 1.4L 3rd to Seraphino here 2nd-up last prep. Promising, nicely-related galloper.
- 1 - COOL DUKE - Great ride last time and the horse found the line strongly. Was favourite there off a solid run in G2 company prior in Brissie. Hit line hard behind the promising Chasm before that. Has the 58kg but has the quality!
- 5 - FRIDAY NIGHTS - Chased the strong speed at Rosehill and kept closing when only 1st-up. He led and won his maiden well 2nd-up last prep. Has upside...
- 4 - MAGIC ZULU - Had a similar run in transit to Friday Nights at Rosehill and he never stopped trying. That was his 8th run this prep so not sure he has the scope of the others but on pure formlines, must have a case, likes wet !
Race 2 - F&M Hcp - 1900m
- 5 - OPEN HANDED - Was given a bit of a 'slaughter' here two-back (went forward, went back, then sat wide!) before being tested at the 2600m last time. She did win this track/trip four-back despite taking off mid-race. In light after the claim... Just a race so want value.
- 2 - SEQUINELLA - Modest race and this filly comes through the best race (won by Star Of Crown, she hit the line well there) so can win! Tiny query is her 1 x 1900m run (a 3.3L 4th of 5 here when $1.7 favourite) but she may have been at the end of her campaign then.
- 6 - PARK ESTEEM - Found the line well to win 1st-up here at 1550m. Jumps to 1900m with no weight in a weak race. She is genuine, has drawn 1 and may just get the gun-run.
- 3 - OUT OF POSITION - Disappointed last week? Good looking win two-back as she took off early off a strong speed and kept running, on the heavy. Which mood ?
- 4 - FROLICS - Just 4 wins from 31 but she has been hitting the line really well of late over shorter trips indicating the 1900m will suit. In light after claim. If she is to win a city race...
Race 3 - 2yo Hcp - 1250m
- 4 - DEHERE AGAIN - 1st-start. Cost $180k. Won a trial in 55.41 by 5lengths at Rosehill recently. In right stable.
- 5 - MANSELL - 1st-start. Cost $150k. Full-brother to smart filly Royal Asscher. Won his trial in 55.41 (same time as Dehere Again) by 4lengths at Rosehill recently.
- 1 - MIRABEAU - Blinkers on last time and he led, kicked, and won well. Has backed-up quickly and run well before. Has to cart the 58kg but obviously hard to beat. Has handled wet !
- 2 - AICHI - Was a $2.7F and won stylishly on debut in heavy ground. Stable quickly switched states, stays on wet ground and has good ability. Big chance.
- 7 - BONDIT - Had some slick late sectionals out to 1200m last week but was 5.7L off Mirabeau. The 3kg weight-swing and extra 50m helps so he has a case at odds.
Race 4 - 3yoF 81RB - 1200m
- 5 - CARTOON CHARACTER - Picked-up nicely and won well here 3rd-up at the 1100m in wet beating a handy field (and Choican whom she now meets her 2kg better). All wet form is super.
- 7 - CHOICAN - Has good ability this filly. Her form through Princess Gisella (won well Flemington last week) looks good and she found the line strongly 1st-up behind Cartoon Character. Wanted desperately to tip her, then they claimed on 'Cartoon' so she got the nod. This fitter and did win 2nd-up last prep... Can win!
- 1 - GARDEN ISLAND - Has won three-straight (all 1100m) including a slick all-way win at Rosehill last time. Her 1200m form is better than stats say but with 59kg and good speed in the race, she is vulnerable. The pluses: loves wet, won here two-back and is tough!
- 2 - MEGA LASS - Forgive the 1st-up run (missed kick) then kept closing behind the flying Illuminates last time 2nd-up. In with 57kg after the claim & peaks 3rd-up but... month off? Looks ok in wet. Has a case for sure.
- 4 - WEEKEND IN PARIS - Ran well 1st-up in sharp time behind Imtops who then ran well last week. Been given a further 7-weeks into this 2nd-up but she won at Randwick 2nd-up last prep with 58.5kg and handles sting out. (not seen heavy).
Race 5 - 3yo C&G 81RB - 1200m
- 7 - JUNGLE TESSLA - 1st-up. Started $2F on debut at Wyong and dug deep to score then was only even in town 2nd-up and spelled. Has won two recent trials for this. May have come on lengths in his break...?
- 9 - ROTORUA - 1st-up. Found trouble on debut and may well have beaten Lap Of Honour (handy) and Royal Rock (then won listed race) before running honestly here 2nd-up on heavy and spelled. Has ability and has trialled well. Hmmm...?
- 1 - NOBLE EDICT - Is the obvious, how short? Sat handy and battled hard in a race where swoopers were suited. He won well at Randwick 2nd-up prior. Unbeaten at Canterbury and has won 2 of 3 at 1200m. Big weight but out of a good race...
- 2 - EAGLE ROCK - Tough as boots. Very genuine 3yo but comes back to 1200m here is some query? Has won here (at this trip) and loves wet. Must have a case.
- 3 - MORNING TIME - Loves Canterbury (won 3 of 5 here including his last two) and wasn't far off Noble Edict last time (meets him 2kg better) in a race where run-ons were suited. Goes in...
Race 6 - 86RB Hcp - 1250m
- 10 - BONCOEUR - Found this a tricky race but this guy did find the line well 1st-up behind the flying Garden Island at 1100m and is suited to 1250m. He was 3.4L off Element 2nd-up last prep and has won 2nd-up in the past. Handles wet well. Is genuine.
- 4 - BEEHIVES - Sat back and worked home strongly 1st-up at Randwick then dropped in grade, started odds-on but was grabbed right on the wire at Kembla by Le Bron. Can peak 3rd-up and he won his only go this track/trip. Gate 12 is awkward.
- 9 - READY TO IMPRESS - Ran well 1st-up in the Dark Jewel at Scone (good race) then kept closing 2nd-up at Randwick. Note, she won nicely 3rd-up last campaign in town coming from 8 lengths off the speed. Her Canterbury form is terrific. Can win.
- 5 - DELAGO STAR - 1st-up. Good fresh horse. having won his last two fresh-up (at Wyong and Kembla - beat a good field at Kembla) and has trialled nicely (twice) for this. His worst run last prep was 5L 6th to Party Crasher/ Guillotine 2nd-up. Live chance. Market push?
- 1 - HOTEL CASINO - Not sure if very wet but he is unbeaten (2 from 2) here and he peaks 3rd-up (won 3rd-up last prep). Kept fresh for this. The claim helps. Wants it slow or better for mine...
Race 7 - Welter Hcp - 1200m
- 6 - ILLUMINATES - Not dropping off yet, unless that is, if by now it is a leader's track !? She keeps finding the line super and if anything, is better suited here out to 1200m than the 1100m last time. In with 53kg after the claim so handicapper hasn't got her yet!
- 2 - OLLIE VOLLIE - Did enough 1st-up in listed grade then again ran honestly in the Pacesetter at Gosford (listed) 2nd-up. Good Canterbury horse who will race handy (pattern?) and there doesn't look mad speed in this. Wet ok. Can win.
- 4 - PRESTO VITE - 1st-up. Ran 2.5L 7th to Ollie Vollie 1st-up last prep with 1kg less than him. He sat 3-wide and beat all-bar Biscayne Bay (that horse beat Magnus) fresh prior. Won fresh three-back. Wet ok. Drawn well. In well weights...
- 1 - HADAAF - Tough on-pacer who gave his all 1st-up in the Pacesetter at Gosford. The 2nd-up stats aren't great and he has the 59kg but will go forward and he can fight ! Has 2 wins here.
- 9 - NOBLE EDICT & 10 - EAGLE ROCK. Dual-acceptors. In this if they go around here...
Race 8 - 86RB Hcp - 1550m
- 4 - MULAMAN - Tried very hard but couldn't catch the flying Grand Commander last time at 1400m. Has placed out to this trip, is yet to run a bad race in seven runs this prep and this race lacks depth !
- 13 - SADDLERS CREEK - Testing the patience but he did find the line well when resuming in on-pace race and he has placed 3 of 3 second-up. Wet or dry ok. Is overdue!
- 1 - STABLE TALK - In with 56kg after claim. Boasts good stats this track/trip and the form around his last couple (Imagining/ Cocoruru etc.) is terrific... Oh, and he was 3-wide and brave last start.
- 3 - JOEY JO JO - Handy mare but no idea wet? She comes off two Queensland runs in strong races when gallant off wide gates in both. Drawn much better today, good speed in this so hope they take a trail. Can win.
- 8 - AT MY COMMAND - Has come back well this prep with three placings from three runs including a fast-finishing 2nd here to Morning Time two-back (2nd-up). Gate 11? Likes wet. Trip a ?? Not sure !?!?
