SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:

Racing at FLEMINGTON was on a GOOD track, rail was True and there was no bias. All runners came down ‘flat’ side in straight races.

Run Of The Day:
Thought FAIR TRADE was so impressive as anything. Just start No.2 and he was so strong to the line and ran time (1:22.5 for 1400m).

The tempo was strong here (47.43 1st-800m) and other runs of note: CAVALAIRE BAY (best on-pacer on strong tempo), EXCELLTASTIC (every chance/ stuck to task) and STOKEHOUSE (finished off ok/ had 2nd-fastest last 600m behind that of winner).  A few made the forgive file...

In Race 1 COME HITHER won but wasn’t overly impressive. In saying that she didn’t look at all at home up the straight (hung out/ looked a bit ‘at sea’ to my eye) so there’s plenty of upside to her. TARIKS made her work after leading in 34.96 1st-600m. MISS O”BRIEN was doing best work late but no match for the quinella. They ran 1-4.29 for 1100m.

Race 4 saw LARGO LAD unleash ha powerful last 200m (11.54/ Scenic Blast ran 11.46 in Lightning Stks) and the win had plenty of merit when you consider the leaders went through their 1st-600m in a sluggish 36.35. ROAD TO ROCK was every bit as good  and was also fresh.  In for good prep. STOLIT led and boxed on but had ever hope this tempo. PRINCESS MARIZZA (3rd-fastest last 200m) was nice late. Overall time: 1:10.21 for 1200m.

SCENIC BLAST was well ridden to win the Lightning, it is always tough for get-back horses from gate 1 but he was able to get to the outside and run over them all. I’m a fan! TYPHOON ZED went down swinging (there was a line of 4 at the 100m), GRAND DUELS (honest/ every chance) and WILANDER (led/ just no match) were the other two there. Wilander led in 34.38 1st-600m so didn’t loafe. WEEKEND HUSSLER ? Nothing to do with rider for mine (but they are easy to blame aren’t they), the horse simply couldn’t quicken into the gaps over the 1000m trip... is last 75m was excellent! SWICK rattled home, only winner had faster last 400/200m. APACHE CAT found 1000m too sharp, his last 50m was good but the race was over. Try further now boys. They ran 56.94 for the 1000m which is slick.

The Vanity for the fillies was Race 7 and it was dominated on the speed. They ran 48.61 1st-800m and little ROMNEYA had the good run (something she wasn’t getting at the start of her last prep) and knuckled down well. RAPID SENSATION led/ every chance match fit. SPARKS FLY was 3-wide with trail and ran home well in a good return. GOLD WATER couldn’t quicken like the winner but her last 100m was strong (in fact had equal fastest last 200m split with REVERBERATES). ESTEE was good 1st-up. GALLICA did enough and wasn’t knocked about. Hey ran 1:22.94 (good gallop off that tempo).

In the last AB ALMALIK had the run but had to really dig deep when challenged, and he did. Good job. HE ran 1:37.03 off a moderate 50.58 1st-800m. GROWL improved sharply 2nd-up and might be ready to fire. YOUTHFUL HIGH (honest) and COHORT (sound late sectionals – 2nd-fastest last 200m in fact) were noteworthy.

THE FORGIVE FILE:
LEONCAVALLO (much to learn), HEY ROSIE (heart irregularity), GO AN GET (wide too soon), HEART OF DREAMS (3 & 4 wide), KEANO (no luck vital stage), AL OMGHE (worked too hard), REVERBERATES (back & held-up in on-pace race), OVAL AFFAIR (wide/ went early/ fitter), MINE GAME (ok in on-pace ace), TIGRESQUE (poor recovery rate), MA SHANG (ran his race before they jumped! Pulled badly) and ITSAMONTY (ridden too close).

In Sydney racing was at ROSEHILL on a GOOD track,  there was no bias evident.

Run Of The Day:
Going with METAL BENDER again who wasn’t given much hope (took off very wide from a mile back 700m out) and ran over them all anyway, he had 58kg and gave them all weight too!

In that race GIGINO chased the tearaway leader and fought hard when headed by winner. HANGOVER HENRY had little luck/ ran well. Others you can have in Saturday grade... They ran 1:30.06 which was .75 slower than Rabbuka in Race 6.

Back to Race 1 and MARQUARDT was too good for the hot-pot MANHATTAN RAIN (and was quite strong the last 100m), CLEANUP ran on well for 3rd and they spaced the rest of the field and ran good time and very good time relative to the day & the older horses  (1-3.94 for 1100m).

In Race 4 BHUTANE DANE box-seated and was just too strong for ATOMIC FORCE who fought hard when headed, good return. SNOW ALERT peeled out and ran home hard but peaked 100m out, fitter now. They ran 1:10.10 off a 35.06 1st-600m. This form will hold up I suspect !

The jury is out on Race 5 form though, it was a 4-way photo finish and 2.5L between first and ninth. SCHIBELLO (got miracle bob), MOUNT VERDE (tough effort with weight), OUR COREY (great ride/ every hope) & YOBURG (led fast/ steadied/ fought) were the four in that busy finish... Time was 1-4.19 (slower than 2yo’s in race 1 please note !!).

Good effort from ROCK ME BABY (filly giving weight to older horses) when left in front a long way out on a strong 34.86 1st-600m. Snowden pair RIO OSA (is underrated/ home hard) and CAJOU (also home hard and should have finished closer/ held-up 300m). SCISSION found 1100m to sharp but was good late. Time 1-3.97 which was a tick slower than the 2yo’s also, this despite a FASTER 1st-600m... Hmmm !

Another top effort in Race 8, this by the smart ROCK KINGDOM who carted 58kg against older horses giving them weight, and was too good !! LEDGER was home strong, only ROCK SONG had a faster last 200m. AN CHLAIS finished off ok (home 12.21 last 200m) and RESPLENDANT BAY also (home 12.17)... Liked DETROIT SONG’s effort too... Nic e work late ! Time: 1-17.04 for 1300m.

THE FORGIVE FILE:
BIG ETHAN (saddle slipped but try easier !), COURT (no luck, twice ! Stiff), ADHASHIM (never full bore/ ran well), EMPEROR BONEPARTE (back & wide), MARCHINSKI (too far back/ fastest last 400/200m), ORPEN ROSE (wide) and GUMNUTS (wide but all yours him!).

To today's racing...

PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for CAULFIELD (Sunday) are for GOOD track. Rail is True. This track has had some traffic of late, suspect run-ons will get their chance (and off rail) later in the day if tempo is there.
In Sydney racing is at ROSEHILL and ratings are for GOOD track. Rail is True. Run-ons will get their chance for sure barring a rick-hard track (seems to be only time on-pacers dominate at Rosehill - when track is Good-2 or firmer ?).

BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
CAULFIELD - Race 5 No.3 - JUST LOOK - Was a month between runs and unsuited back to 1400m here Australia Day and ran terrific. He couldn't quicken when the sprint went on but his last 100m was super and gets to 1800m here. His win prior (here/1700m) at Listed level was impressive. Keeps improving. In nicely after claim.

BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
ROSEHILL - Race 4 No.3 - AN CHLAIS - Comes through the best race (the 2.9L 5th to Rock Kingdom last week) and comes back to her own sex here. Don't see 1400m as an issue, drawn for good run on a modest tempo. Not sure odds but will be right there 100m out given even luck.

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD - Race 6 No.11 - RED ELEMENT - Resumes. Worked hard and was very game beating all-bar Bel Mer 1st-up last prep this track/trip then wasn't far off Typhoon Zed in a G1 race at WFA. Lightly-raced so no reason he won't have improved off that (second) prep. Well-weighted !

BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL - Race 8 No.6 - KOICHI - Resumes. Ran very well 1st-up last prep when a 1.6L 3rd to Ten Of Hearts despite a 3-wide trip. Has won fresh. Has trialled nicely. Drawn for gun-run if gate 1 is not a negative by now, race 8.

BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL - Race 6 No.8 - HIKE - May be the value here? Put the writing on the wall at Randwick two-back then drifted a long way back here off a good speed when coming back 100m in trip which didn't really suit, he found the line sweetly (fastest last 400m) and Buzzy Henry has emerged from that race a winner. Has no weight and is out to 1800m (has won this trip).

TOP-RATED RUNNERS:

CAULFIELD

Race 1 - 3yoF Hcp - 1200m

  1. 2 - COMPLETE CONTROL - Wasn't far away in a Magic Millions 1st-up on the Gold Coast behind Tempest Tost and subsequent impressive winner Rock Kingdom (beat older horses with 68kg!). Back to own sex, and back many levels. May be the value?
  2. 1 - ARMS WIDE OPEN - Resumes. She won 1st-up last prep in Adelaide/1200m then went on to be competitive (without much luck) in group races. Small field suits her as does this class of horse. Can win !
  3. 5 - LADY ROCK - Resumes. Led and won on debut at Seymour and ran useful time beating Cool Diva who then won before running OK behind Mine Game & Co. which ties in. Expect she has come on in the break.
  4. 3 - UPSTREAM - No excuses last time but that was 1400m. The fresh win at this trip prior was good (chased a slow speed/ knuckled down gamely). Back to the 1200m and has match fitness on other three mentioned... Will sit handy (race 1 Caulfield !!)
  5. 4 - MISS SORENSTAM - Resumes. Made some ground fresh last time in behind Impressive Eagle (is smart) in Listed grade at 1100m. The 1200m and small field give her a chance.

Race 2 - Listed Wellington Stks - 3yo - 1400m

  1. 3 - NICCONI - Excellent win 1st-up at MV running over a good horse in Cardinal Virtue and they beat the rest easily. Has never raced 2nd-up but safe to assume he will have taken benefit from the run and will eat 1400m! Good horse!
  2. 1 - FRAVASHI - Speaking of good horses. Loved his 1st-up run closing in very, very well late to potential star Time Thief at 1200m. Love the way he stretched out when (finally) got outside them. Fitter/1400m big ticks. Group horse this guy no worries.
  3. 4 - HEBITDA - Was restrained to last fresh then was well back & hard-ridden turning but really hit the line his last 100m (had 11.44 last 200m/ fastest of the race/ Fravashi went 11.47). Has had the 'extra run' over the other two mentioned as he's 3rd-up here and wants every bit of 1400m. Chance !
  4. 6 - HANDSUPFORDETROIT - Can run slick sectionals/times and was only 2nd-up, at start No.3 when running over Empire Palace at Rosehill/1200m. Is unlucky not to be unbeaten in fact. 1400m suits.
  5. 2 - DR DOUTE'S - Resumes. Didn't fire 1st-up last prep but found the 1000m way too sharp. He then won 2nd-up despite sitting some 5-wide, at 1430m/Flemington. Trip suits fresh. He beat good horses in his G3 win Derby Day.

Race 3 - G3 Blue Diamond Prelude 3yoF - 1100m

  1. 1 - ROSTOVA - Impressive win 1st-up when stable openly stated (before the race) she'd be better for it. Looks even better suited to 1100m. Best 2yo I've seen this season to date. Don't really take odds-on but some sucker will throw up evens...?
  2. 3 - QUICK BLUSH - Two starts, two smart wins and ran over Baby Corn and Be That As It May who then ran 3rd (every hope) and 5th (bumped with winner/ no match) behind Rostova.
  3. 4 - CORSAIRE - Resumes. Was a big betting drifter on debut (and surprised the stable with win) then bolted in. The third horse there was I'm A Smarty Pants who ran 2.5L 2nd to Rostova at Flemington back in Spring.
  4. 7 - ROSE DARMORE - Resumes. Loved her run at MV on Cox Plate Day when struck trouble then really found the wire (best closing sectionals) in a race won by Starspangledbanner and Bawaardi (came out and won fresh recently) was 3rd. The 1100m suits much better. Blowout chance.
  5. 2 - EXCEEDINGLY FRENCH - Won easily on debut thrashing Rebels who should kame a nice horse. Had pattern in favour at MV but was strong beating Musigny who was coming off a win in Adelaide.

Race 4 - Listed Blue Diamond Prelude 3yoC&G - 1100m

  1. 3 - REWARD FOR EFFORT - Nice debut win in the Preview running .22 faster than filly Rostova on the day and was quite green there indicating there is plenty of improvement in him. He beat Rarefied who was previously unbeaten. Drawn for gun-run.
  2. 2 - REAL SAGA - Terrific win fresh at Randwick overcoming difficulties, he pounced quickly when out in the open and ran 57.78 for 1000m. The 1100m suits better. A danger!
  3. 1 - STARSPANGLEDBANNER - Resumes. May well have won a very good race MV Cox Plate Day (Bawaardi then won/ Rose Damore ran in previous race) and like the way he did it (worked early. held on!). Absolutely bolted in a recent trial by 10L... Always a danger with 2yos when they win a trial like that (did he leave it all there ??) but looks very smart.
  4. 4 - KILLIAN - Box-seated, travelled into the race very easily, and won well on debut. Runner-up Tribulus had run 3rd to Kwassa Kwassa on debut. Expect he has come on lengths from that.
  5. 5 - BAWAARDI - Impressed at Ballarat 1st-up beating Ossetia and the third-horse there and Samski was third who is spruiked too. The debut run to Starspangledbanner on Cox Plate Day was terrific (nice last 100m !). 1100m a plus.

Race 5 - Hcp - 1800m

  1. 3 - JUST LOOK - Was a month between runs and unsuited back to 1400m here Australia Day and ran terrific. He couldn't quicken when the sprint went on but his last 100m was super and gets to 1800m here. His win prior (here/1700m) at Listed level was impressive. Keeps improving. In nicely after claim.
  2. 1 - SCENIC SHOT - Was only 4.5L off Takeover Target 1st-up in WA (at WFA) then was looking for further than 1400m 2nd-up but he hit the line hard (same race as Just Look, ran fastest last 200m in 11.39 - Just Look was 11.46) in a race where the first five home were 1,2,3,4,5 at the 1000m. Has four wins at 1800m and peaks 3rd-up. Always tough with 60.5kg but quality animal.
  3. 9 - DOWN UNDER BOY - Ran very well last time when back & wide in mostly on-pace day at Lakeside and ran home in fastest last 400m of the race. Strong win prior at that track. Boasts a .4L 2nd in a Norman Robinson Stks so 1800m is no problem.
  4. 11 - WESTERN COUP - Top win two-back when 3, 4 & 5-wide and beat I Got One who then ran a very good second to All Cheval (and beat Down Under Boy). Trip looks ok.

Race 6 - Listed BMW Stks - 1100m

  1. 11 - RED ELEMENT - Resumes. Worked hard and was very game beating all-bar Bel Mer 1st-up last prep this track/trip then wasn't far off Typhoon Zed in a G1 race at WFA. Lightly-raced so no reason he won't have improved off that (second) prep. Well-weighted !
  2. 6 - AICHI - Resumes. Gun 3yo who has had seven starts, his worst finish, second. Was a tragedy beaten on Cup Day before spelling. He has beaten Time Thief, he boasts a very good 2nd to Sunburnt Land here at 1100m when unsuited at the weights. Very hard to beat.
  3. 12 - ROYAL ESPRIT - Quality sprinter who will relish the weight drop here. Doubt he was suited back to 1100m in on-pace race at Rosehill last time but ran home well. Fixed odds has him $41 as I type this... That's way overs !!
  4. 1 - LUCKY SECRET - Was touched off by Mind Your Head here 1st-up when touch underdone and raced hard on inside rail which wasn't the A-grade ground for mine then led (own pace) and beat Light Fantastic at WFA 2nd-up. Bit harder at the weights but he's no stranger to carting them. Gate 1... Pattern? Will give a great sight.
  5. 5 - HAPPY GLEN - Gets 5kg on Lucky Secret here off their dead-heat 2nd to Mind Your Head this track/trip. Excellent 1100m record, match-fit and so, so genuine. Drawn for gun run too. Include!
  6. 9 - FERNANDINA - Good 1st-up and ran a solid 4th in a hot 3yo race (Sugar Babe/ Whobegotyou etc) 2nd-up last prep. In the mix.

Race 7 - G1 CF Orr Stks - WFA - 1400m

  1. 9 - LIGHT FANTASTIC - Good effort to get very close to Lucky Secret 1st-up off that moderate tempo (loved his last 75m there) and suspect 1400m suits much better. He did flop 2nd-up last prep but had genuine excuses. Touch of luck needed from gate 9 but top pick.
  2. 12 - VON COSTA DE HERO - Ran super 1st-up behind Lucky Secret/ Light Fantastic as he missed the kick there in a slowly run race but was hitting the line very sweetly. He was replated before the race there and it took near 10-minutes (couldn't help !). Both his 2nd-up runs to date have been very good !! Can win.
  3. 6 - THESEO - Resumes. Got well back and rattled home late for 5th to Typhoon Zed/ Raheeb at the unsuitable 1100m trip 1st-up last prep. The 1400m suits better. Dual G1 winner so has the class and has trialled nicely. In this.
  4. 8 - ALAMOSA - Resumes. Kept closing for 1.9L 4th to Light Fantastic/Weekend Hussler 1st-up last prep at 1400m/WFA here. Went on to G1 glory himself. Will be thereabouts as he is very genuine.
  5. 4 - NICONERO - resumes. Arguably should have won this 1st-up last year. Wonder what his strike-rate would be if he never found bad luck !? Has three fresh wins, loves Caulfield. Goes in all bets.
  6. 1 - EL SEGUNDO - All class but this tops him off I fancy.. Had fastest last 200m in slowly run race at MV fresh is a very pleasing return!

Race 8 - G3 Mares SWP - 1200m

  1. 5 - VIKING TURF BELLE - Resumes. Underrated mare. looked a touch unlucky to my eye 1st-up last prep when held-up at a vital stage then flew late for 1L 2nd to smartie Beaming at Flemington. She won her previous two when fresh. Beautifully weighted, beautifully drawn and our track spies tell us she is 'working the house down'. It's a good race but she is good so that works out well...
  2. 8 - ANNESONG - Very, very good effort last time here (I was happy to risk her back to 1100m but she probably should have won??). She was out-sped at the trip (back hard-ridden turn) but loved the way she kept finding the line under no real riding as she was strung-up in traffic. N.Hall back aboard here. Out to 1200m here. Double-figure odds here !!
  3. 1 - TRANSLATE - Résumés. Quality mare with two 1st-up wins. She resumed last time in with a 4th to Grand Duels in an Aurie's Stra Hcp. Against her own sex here and not badly weighted for a G1 placed (to Divine Madonna) galloper.
  4. 2 - PRIMA NOVA - Resumes. Got back near last and ran home super for 1.5L 3rd to Viking Turf Belle 1st-up last prep. Meets her 1kg worse for that but there's no doubt that ties her right in. Like the fact she's drawn past the middle here by Race 8...
  5. 10 - NUCLEAR FORCE - Tidy win fresh and that form is super (3rd-horse there then won a race by 5L). Ran very well here 2nd-up when given no hope back & wide, wider turning and never had cover yet found the line strong. Peaks. Her 2 x 1200m misses are inconclusive.

Race 9 - Hcp - 1400m

  1. 10 - EL MANDON - Excellent effort last time when wide and went forward midrace (no trail) yet kept closing to beat all-bar Time Matters (in fast time) and he then won (well) again. Behind El Mandon there was Ma Shang and Itsamonty. gate 1 here race 9 the only queries...
  2. 5 - SILKY SMOOTH - Was 5-weeks between runs last time and annoyed all the way in the lead before boxing on well for 1.9L 4th to Rok Posta/Orbit Express and it's worth noting, nothing that led that day at Flemington, hard on the rail, had much success. Suspect he is fitter, suspect he gets softer lead.. He can certainly win !
  3. 4 - ROK POSTA - Off back-to-back 1400m wins and after the claim, is in vert well relative weights. Has actually won 5 of 8 at 1400m and drawn for gun-run again. Just so genuine! A must.
  4. 1 - ROYAL IDA - Forgive last run when 1.9L 7th to Rok Posta as he went forward from a wide gate against his own racing pattern, thought he ran really well. No stranger to big weights. Very genuine himself...
  5. 3 - BARLINNIE - Won a Listed race in Doomben 2nd-up (unbeaten 2nd-up) then found 1630m a bit much last time. Prefer him at this trip (has won 3 of 4 at 1400m) and 6 of 12 on dry tracks.

ROSEHILL

Race 1 - 2yo Hcp - 1200m

  1. 1 - ALL LEGAL - Was $31-to-$21 on debut late, got a long way back, then rattled home for .2L 2nd to Fear No Other in Inglis Classic.. Note he was very green there so he has a stack of upside. In with 54kg after the claim. Needs luck getting through the field from gate 1 is all.
  2. 2 - DELAGO BOLT - Kept closing here 1st-up and just missed Master Gaze on the wire at 1100m. They ran just .3 seconds slower than boom filly More Joyous over that trip later in the day. This guy will be strong at 1200m and fitter now. Can win.
  3. 5 - FLYING SPIN - Was out-sprinted when the pace went on in that Master Gaze/ Delago Bolt race here fresh at 1100m but his last 100m was good, he will relish 1200m on that. Only gets .5kg on Delago Bolt.
  4. 3 - BEAVEROO - 1st-start. Top trial win at Wyong by a lazy 8L. Big watch on betting here.
  5. 6 - ROMANUS - 1st-start. His recent trial was good. Bred to get ground (Dam won VRC Oaks) so 1200m should suit on debut. Cost $500k.

Race 2 - 1MW 3yoF Hcp - 1200m

  1. 2 - BEAUCOUP - Found the line nicely fresh at Randwick to beat all-bar the highly-rated Serenissima then sat handy and battled hard behind two smart 3yo's Gold Water and Metal Bender who have both since performed very well. Back to 1200m here only tiny query but small field suits and is yet to run a bad race in her life.
  2. 4 - INDIRECT - Resumes. She won very impressively (here) on debut (only other 1st-up run) then ran home well for 2.4L 6th to Duporth in a G2 Gold Rose second go. Has trialled nicely. Expect she has come on. Very hard to hold out.
  3. 8 - YAU CHIN - Gave her all but was just no match for Miss Darcey at Randwick at just start No.2. They thrashed third and broke 1:10.00 for the 1200m, expect that form to be strong. Has plenty of upside and 1.5kg pull on Miss Darcey is a help.
  4. 5 - MISS DARCEY - Box-seated and was just too strong for Yau Chin fresh (good time/ gap to rest). Tiny query is does she want a touch further now? Has a case.
  5. 3 - FOXY ONE - Didn't really fire 1st-up at Canterbury. Was a betting drifter there so assume fitter. Her two runs/wins in her first prep had merit (one wet/ one dry). Expecting better.

Race 3 - Welter Hcp - 1400m

  1. 2 - LEGENDARY MAN - Resumes. Made a very good return when 1.9L 6th in a Newcastle Newmarket 1st-up last prep working home very nicely from a mile back. Is in on the limit here after the claim. Small field and genuine speed here suits. If he's in touch turning and gets the runs through from gate 1, he can win here fresh.
  2. 3 - BUZZY HENRY - Very happy to see him ridden colder last time, he responded with a fast-finishing win over Hotel Casino and they broke the track record. His dry-track form is terrific and well drawn, well weighted after claim. Winning hope.
  3. 1 - HADAAF - Has been getting a mile back and rattling home in very slick sectionals his two runs back. Can peak, can sit closer at 1400m but has 60kg (nearest rival has 55.5kg after claims) which makes his job tougher.
  4. 5 - FIVEOCLOCKSHADOW -  Certainly did enough 1st-up behind Buzzy Henry in track record time (had 4th-fastest last 200m) and has won 2 of 3 second-up (immediately spelled after the miss) and 1400m suits better. Has a case.
  5. 6 - ZARETTI - Has won 3 of 4 this prep and his 1400m form is very good. Has been top-3 in 9 of 11 runs, the misses were a 5th on debut and an 8th as fave at Hawkesbury one day, but was quickly spelled after that indicating all was not well. Goes forward and will fight !

Race 4 - F&M Hcp 86RB Hcp - 1400m

  1. 3 - AN CHLAIS - Comes through the best race (the 2.9L 5th to Rock Kingdom last week) and comes back to her own sex here. Don't see 1400m as an issue, drawn for good run on a modest tempo. Not sure odds but will be right there 100m out given even luck.
  2. 5 - GLOBAL START - Ran very well back to this, her pet trip, last time when running home in fastest last 600m in a race dominated from the front. In well after the claim. A danger.
  3. 7 - RISAYLA - Resumes. Ran 1.4L 4th to Rain Game at Hawkesbury/1400m 1st-up last prep. She's rarely far away, she has trialled well enough to figure this grade and is a live hope.
  4. 4 - SCISSION - Had little hope last week back at 1100m but she found the line nicely. Her previous run here, a narrow 2nd to An Chlais at 1200m obviously ties right in and looks ready to win 4th-up. She has failed in 2 x 1400m runs but they were early in her career, she looks stronger now. Include.
  5. 9 - DANZ IN PARIS - Goes in as she is the one who can sit right on the speed, in a race devoid of great speed. Comes back t 1400m here which is a plus also. Has won here. Pattern?

Race 5 - G2 Expressway Stks - WFA - 1400m

  1. 5 - RAHEEB - Resumes. Smart horse. Was touched off by G1 sprinter Typhoon Zed 1st-up last prep and thrashed subsequent G1 winners, and was off a 64-week break. Loved his recent trial. Pretty keen today.
  2. 7 - GALLANT TESS - Resumes. She is a 1st-up specialist. She made Racing To Win really fight to beat her 1st-up last prep. She won brilliantly 1st-up prior. She has trialled super. Gate 1. Very hard to beat.
  3. 8 - HURRIED CHOICE - Did enough 1st-up in 'funny' race at Canterbury. 2nd-up last prep she was a terrific .5L 3rd to Tyhoon Zed/ Raheeb before beating G1 winner Forensics 3rd-up. Loves Rosehill. Chance.
  4. 6 - BURDEKIN BLUES - Will have his admirer's coming off a 6L win at Eagle Farm fresh at 1000m. The 1200m is no problem (been top-3 in 5 of 5 at 1200m) and his worst career finish is 4th. Unbeaten on dry tracks to! Goes in quaddie.
  5. 2 - MENTALITY - Resumes. Ran well when 4L 8th in an Oakleigh Plate to Weekend Hussler 1st-up last prep at 1100m. The 1400m suits better fresh. Trialled nicely.

Race 6 - Hcp - 1800m

  1. 8 - HIKE - May be the value here? Put the writing on the wall at Randwick two-back then drifted a long way back here off a good speed when coming back 100m in trip which didn't really suit, he found the line sweetly (fastest last 400m) and Buzzy Henry has emerged from that race a winner. Has no weight and is out to 1800m (has won this trip).
  2. 4 - LYNCEAN ACADEMY - Thrashed his rivals at 1800m last time (no 3 from 3 at 1800m) off a pleasing run here behind Vision And Power (same race as Hike/ the one Buzzy Henry came through/ meets Hike 1kg worse). Obviously hard to beat.
  3. 1 - VISION AND POWER - Flying this prep. Two strong wins in good form races then tried hard behind the promising Rabbuka last week. Has won to 2000m so the 1800m doesn't concern and he loves Rosehill. Has the big weight but is a must in this mood !
  4. 3 - ENZEDEX EAGLE - Is another through that Vision And Power/Buzzy Henry race and he was spotted hitting the wire very sweetly at the unsuitable 1500m trip 1st-up. Has won 2nd-up. Has obviously come back very well and has claims.
  5. 6 - BOPALULA - Good effort last time at 1600m running home nicely for second. Wants 1800m now and looks ready 4th-up. Does she have the quality to beat the other four? Probably not but can place.

Race 7 - 3yo C&G - 1MW - 1200m

  1. 3 - CENTENNIAL PARK - Resumes. Ran very well 1st-up last prep in a Listed Ming Dynasty/1400m Battling home well after missing the kick (was much better race than this - Predatory Pricer/ Caymans, Dreamscape), he was then quickly spelled. This is 1200m but there looks enough speed and the small-ish field will mean he won't have to get a 'mile' back.
  2. 9 - PRECEDENCE - Resumes. Zabeel colt who showed plenty in his first prep including a debut 1.5L 5th to The Astronomer run in fast time, and there was tremendous depth in that event. Expect he has come on. Another who wants speed on at 1200m but has a bright future.
  3. 4 - DEHERE AGAIN - Two from two this prep and beat today's rival Guderian last time, he then won a race by 5L. Meets at same weight terms. No reason he won't keep improving. Gate 1.
  4. 5 - GUDERIAN - Tried hard but was no match for Dehere Again two-back then walked in at Randwick Hard fit, goes forward and is a must.
  5. 2 - ORCA - Résumés. Smart maiden with form around Whobegotyou last time in. Hasn't been knocked about in recent trials. May find 1200m a bit sharp but would not shock !
  6. 1 - STALINGRAD - Resumes. In same boat as Orca. Will he find 1200m to sharp? Expect he has come on from first campaign and his debut, a .2L 3rd to Predatory Pricer (1300m) was terrific.

Race 8 - 91RB Hcp - 1100m

  1. 6 - KOICHI - Resumes. Ran very well 1st-up last prep when a 1.6L 3rd to Ten Of Hearts despite a 3-wide trip. Has won fresh. Has trialled nicely. Drawn for gun-run if gate 1 is not a negative by now, race 8.
  2. 10 - OUR JETSETTER - Resumes - Rattled home 1st-up last prep for 2L 3rd to Illuminates at this track/trip. Good speed on paper suits. Has placed 5 of 6 when 1st-up...
  3. 2 - LIFEBOAT - Resumes. Has won his last three when 1st-up. Is good enough to have beaten Global Warming with 4kg less. Has won at 1100m. The claim sees him in with a winnable weight today. Goes in.
  4. 4 - MCCLINTOCK - Beat an in-form horse out to 1400m last time. Freshened for the drop to 1100m here. Not overly concerned about the distance drop (all his 1100m form is very good) and his only run here, was a top 3rd to Black Prince off a 3-wide trip.... at this distance.
  5. 9 - WALKING OR DANCING - Was close-up without luck on the Gold Coast MM and they ran sizzling time for the 1400m there. Freshened for the drop to 1100m. Needs to be in striking distance turning, if he is, look out !
  6. 11 - BABY CASINO - Top return at Randwick flashing through along the inside but was touched-off by class filly Anatomica. Not sure back to 1100m is a plus, that's the query but very honest and that's a good formline

Good luck !
