Horse Racing Tips Archive: August 22 2009, Group 1 Service
Below is the Archive of our 22 August 2009 Racing Form and Tips, Which We Provided For Our Group 1 Subscribers
SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at CAULFIELD on a DEAD track and there was no bias evident.
Run Of The Day:
There were some absolute rippers but leaning to RAFFAELLO who rattled home in 11.15 his last 200m (2nd-fastest last 200m of the day) and won, over 1200m, this despite the leaders running a modest 36.82 1st-600m...
...Others of note in that race: VIGOR (held-up touch, back inside knocked a few down but a lovely return), COMMANDING HOPE (wide/ gallant), VON COSTA DE HERO (no luck/ flashed late in 11.13 - the fastest last 200m of the day). Be on STREET CLASSIC when he returns to midweeks. Overall time: 1:11.68 (.6 faster than Cats Whisker).
The JJ Liston Stks was Race 6 and the tempo was solid (48.3 1st-800m) and there were some cracking runs: PREDATORY PRICER thundered down the outside in an excellent return win. WHOBEGOTYOU came from just behind the winner, and was 1-horse wider turning yet charged also, every bit as good! TYPHOON TRACY showed a lovely turn of foot but was swamped late. Very good. HEART OF DREAMS weaved home very nicely. RED RULER mile back/home nice (only quinella had faster last 200m). Great race !! Time: 1:23.44
In Race 7 CATS WHISKER was very brave holding off ANNESONG by, well, a whisker. She certainly had her chance (36.78 1st-600m) but the great fighting qualities were the most noteworthy point here, and she was only 1st-up. Runner-up was 2nd-up and just never runs a bad race! FLYING RUBY made a slashing return coming from last, her 11.25 last 200m was the equal 3rd-fastest of the day. Top run of said modest tempo. TOOTSIE was slow out and wide/ ran terrific too. Little ROMNEYA disappointed bu tmay have been ridden too close? As mentioned, time was 1:12.28 for 1200m.
In the last MISS MAREN was simply too good! Trainer said she will probably need the run but, too good, and she did it off an interrupted run. BONINDI box-seated and railed through, every possible chance! VANDALO charged home again, he is flying and had fastest last 400/200m here. Leaders had their chance here (49.65 1st-600m). Liked the runs of YOUNG CENTAUR and LADY AVACAN too.
Race 3 for the boys over 1100m was run in 1-4.10 off a 35.16 1st-600m. STARSPANGLEDBANNER was too fast/good. ECLAIR FASTPASS finished hard. SHAMOLINE WARRIOR made a lovely return!
Race 4 for fillies was run in 1-5.25 off a slow 36.35 1st-600m. Winner CORSAIRE had a picnic in front but we never knock winners here! HEADWAY was excellent (got close on the line off walking tempo) and COME HITHER almost as good (also got back - home 11.73 compared to Headway's 11.51).
THE FORGIVE FILE:
ABITOFADO (vet: Had The Thumps), BRITOMART (mile back/ held-up), AFTERBURN (wide/ stopped in tracks 300m), DIAMONDCOWBOY (held-up/ ran on under no real riding/ watch for him in easier!), SHOOT THROUGH (wide), ROSTOVA (in season), NOESIS (buck-jumped), JUST LOOK (poleaxed), IN THE SHADOWS & SANDHILL PRINCE (ditto), ORANGE COUNTY (had little luck/room), ISTA KAREEM (mile back/ held-up/ nice on line!), WITH APOLOGIES (should have placed), MARCHELLE BELLE (poor tactics), CAPE D'AMORE (hampered when winding up) and VON COSTA DE HERO (as mentioned earlier).
In Sydney racing was at ROSEHILL on a GOOD track and it played beautifully.
Run Of The Day:
There were plenty raving about the beaten brigade but for mine, DENMAN was the run of the race/day! He carted the big weight, he was used up a bit early to sit on the good speed yet kicked, and was actually going away from his rivals on the line! He will do me in the G1 (back to level weights)...
...Yes, there were some top runs behind him: MORE THAN GREAT (had good run/ beat 3rd ok), THE MIKADO (well back/ held-up/ ran home very well and had fastest last 200m split 11.64 - winner was 11.69). VIKING LEGEND (finished off well), TRUSTING (luckless/ did hit line when clear/ gifted animal this one!). They ran 1:16.68
Race 5 was the Premiere Stks and the judge couldn't split MENTALITY (led/ fought hard) and KRONER (held-up twice/ should have won outright!), PHELAN READY pulled hard, drifted back, ran on! Is a super talent but must amend those manners at the top level this spring. They ran 1:10.46 for the 1200m.
To Race 7 and RANGIRANGDOO won, and all honours with the winner here, he took off 650m out (and leaders had run along) yet kept running to win quite easily. CULLEN CASTLE relished the weight relief and was sound/no match. ENZEDEX EAGLE finished off nicely/ good return it. BAY WINDOW and GERGIS were honest. Time: 1:29.4 for the 1500m.
In the last CENTENNIAL PARK was too classy, new season 4yo with 59kg... too good! NORTH DAKOTA closed very well/ racing well. ANTIDOTES copped windburn from North Dakota but finished off well. MONTE LEO and RATATAT LASS were nice efforts, especially the latter, their sectionals home were very sound. Time: 1:18.12 for 1300m.
Back to Race 2 and EMPIRE PLACE relished the drier ground and led all the way (didn't loaf in front so the win had merit), AHDASHIM had good run, winner wouldn't stop! MOTSPUR was very sound. PIMPLALA COBBLER hit the line nice! WILLY JIMMY rattled home, his 11.17 last 200m was the fastest of the day! Can win a good race this prep. They ran good time for 1100m in 1-3.51 (.55 faster than other 1100m race).
THE FORGIVE FILE:
GOLDAM (wide), RED LETTER DAZE (should have finished closer), THE TAKE (wide), HAWK ISLAND (too far back), BAHA (blew start), PRINCESS QUALITY (didn't get trip), TRIPLE HONOUR (3&4-wide), STRYKER (no luck!) and TRUSTING (as mentioned).
To today's racing...
PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for MOONEE VALLEY are for DEAD track. Rail out 4m which means we must watch/monitor for on-pace bias. The track played quite well here last time (considering the 7m position)... Still I am nervous when rail comes out here.
In Sydney racing is at RANDWICK on a GOOD track. Rail out 4m. Usually means no obvious pattern/bias but watching early races of course...
BET OF THE DAY (Melb)
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 4 No.1 - CARRARA - Resumes. Worst career run, a 3rd to Black Caviar. Only other fresh run was his debut win at Seymour. Made San Domenico Stks winner Shellscrape stretch to beat him in Qld before spelling. Looks smart.
BET OF THE DAY (Syd)
RANDWICK - Race 7 No.5 - HANDSUPFORDETROIT - Resumes. Should have won 1st-up last prep this track/trip in a 0-75 with then out of form D.Nikolic riding. Won well 2nd-up then made Nicconi work to beat him in Listed grade. Wasn't knocked about in trial (against some top-class horses - went well). Go well.
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 5 No.6 - BELLEZA VELOZ - Freshened. Smart mare with excellent 1200m stats and she won very well her one run here. She will get back so track pattern crucial but she is the best mare in this race.
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
MOONEE VALLEY - Race 6 No.14 - LA ROCKET - Was very game on-pace at Flemington beating all-bar Driffield Gold (who had dream run, and is flying!). Goes forward quickly to offset gate and this may just mean better odds. Gutsy horse in light.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
RANDWICK - Race 6 No.5 - VOICE COMMANDER - Thought he was the 'Run Of The Day' here last start 4&5-wide at an unsuitable trip (1200m) as he just kept coming with 58kg, when most would have dropped out. His win prior was dominant. Yes, he is up to WFA but gets to his right trip and gets a nice run on the speed map here. No moral but at $10.. He is the match-fit value.
TOP-RATED RUNNERS :
MOONEE VALLEY
Race 1 - Listed 3yoF - SWP - 1200m
- 1 - BLACK CAVIAR - Resumes. Two wins from two in the first prep by an aggregate 11 lengths and ran faster time than Secret Flyer on the day (a 2yo !!!) at Flemington. Could be anything. Loved Moody's comment this week: "If she gets beat I'd love to be training the filly that beats her".
- 2 - NOESIS - Buck-jumped out of the race last week when resuming (was in the market). The debut in in October (thrashed Dancescape) says she is smart.
- 3 - MAKE ENA - Resumes. All four runs in the first prep contained merit, the best was 3.6L 3rd in a Blue Diamond (behind Black Caviar's stablemate Reward For Effort) when charging home from well back. Small field/ Good pace on suits her.
- 4 - ORBITING BELLE - Two wins at Moe and Flemington (was brave in the latter) then chased hard in Adelaide to finish 1L 3rd to Augusta Proud in Listed grade. Match fit and tries very hard.
Race 2 - F&M Hcp - 2040m
- 10 - CAMEO MINX - Just might be the value in a typically tough mares race. Had no excuses at Lakeside except to say she was 3rd-up and 1720m-to-2100m and was gallant. Her 4th-up run last prep was a 7L win here at this trip. Gets good run with top jock taking over.
- 7 - CORONATION DIVA - Has relative weights against her from the Flemington win last start, however, she was as strong as anything on the line (had virtually equal-fastest last 200m despite racing on the speed). Gate 10 awkward.
- 4 - DIAMOND ENVY - Was under pressure a way out and stuck to the task this track/trip last time against the males. Peaks? Back to own sex here. May want touch further but that may be off-set by solid tempo on paper.
- 12 - PRAY FOR ME - Jumped sharply 1400-to-1800m at Flemington when 3.5L off Coronation Diva. Gets 4kg weight-pull on her today and assume fitter so can turn tables.
- 6 - SCARLET - Also through the Coronation Diva race (loomed to beat her - no match last 100m). Also gets 4kg on the winner here. Gate awkward but top jock up.
- 8 - FLORINA - Ran over Cameo Minx last time so obviously has a case. She was once a wet-tracker, suspect she is now much better on drier (it does happen !)
Race 3 - Hcp - 2500m
- 5 - BETWIXT - Was shuffled back at a vital stage in Adelaide last time and she should have finished much closer. Will eat 2500m. Top rider from good draw here. Against males with 54.5kg the only query but top pick.
- 3 - SENTIRE - Was a real black-booker here two-back flashing home over the 1600m (rail was 7m so it is hard to rattle home) then had the slo-o-ow pace against at Flemington and was 1600-to-2510m so probably needed the run anyway. Gets 2.5kg on Pass Me By here and there looks a tad more pressure up front. Early markets have him $15 and Pass Me By $2... I know which one I will be on if those odds are right !!
- 4 - PASS ME BY - Obviously hard to beat on the easy win over subsequent Flemington winner Coronation Diva and the strong 2510m win there last start. The handicapper hasn't got him yet. Goes forward (and rail out 4m) so hard to stop!
- 2 - ELMORE - Chased hard behind Pass Me BY at Flemington and gets 2kg advantage here. Has a case.
- 10 - RARE POPPI - Neat win at Cranbourne as he came wide along way out and carted 58kg doing it. Untried 2500m but it looks suitable and plummets in weight. Good roughie.
Race 4 - Listed Nissan Stks - 3yo C&G - 1200m
- 1 - CARRARA - Resumes. Worst career run, a 3rd to Black Caviar. Only other fresh run was his debut win at Seymour. Made San Domenico Stks winner Shellscrape stretch to beat him in Qld before spelling. Looks smart.
- 2 - ALKHAFIF - Weaved through and won well on debut then loomed a bit but found Starspangledbanner and Co. too good, that form looks good since winner then won again. Looks suited to 1200m. A danger.
- 6 - CABEZA - Good tough win on debut and the form going into that race was solid. Back to 1200m but has a stack of upside. Nice gate/ Gets good run.
- 4 - NICASTRO - Unbeaten in all three runs in the first prep. The horses he beat at Swan Hill before spelling have both since placed in town. Can win.
- 3 - UMANUGGET - Resumes. Has a case on the 6.8L 6th to Manhattan Rain in a hot Skyline Stks in March. His debut run in Qld was a top 4.6L 4th at Eagle Farm off a wide run.
Race 5 - Mares Hcp - 1200m
- 6 - BELLEZA VELOZ - Freshened. Smart mare with excellent 1200m stats and she won very well her one run here. She will get back so track pattern crucial but she is the best mare in this race.
- 5 - LA GOULUE - The on-pacer (check pattern !) who did a great job to win fresh at Caulfield in good time then was freshened again and was only 1.7L off I Am Invincible/ Gran Sasso at WFA/1100m. Has won 2 of 3 here.
- 1 - ESTEE - Resumes. Good mare who may win a good staying race this time in. Her 1st-up run last prep was a 2L 5th in a Vanity Stks to Romneya at 1400m. Bit scared 1200m too sharp but bet she is rattling home (pattern pending). These the only three winning hopes for mine.
- 10 - BETTY'S BELLE - Won well enough at Sale in 68 showcase over 1013m. Unproven at 1200m and there are good mares in this but can race handy with light weight.
- 7 - BELSENICA - Resumes. Trialled well (ridden along/ close-up behind Mic Mac). All three wins last prep were on heavy tracks over further than 1200m but can sprint well fresh. Can place.
Race 6 - Hcp - 1519m
- 14 - LA ROCKET - Was very game on-pace at Flemington beating all-bar Driffield Gold (who had dream run, and is flying!). Goes forward quickly to offset gate and this may just mean better odds. Gutsy horse in light.
- 8 - BONINDI - Been up longer than Ron Jeremy but continues to race well and was beaten by a high-class mare (Miss Maren) last week. In light again after claim and has top MV record. Will be right there from gate 3. If not 'over the top' - can win!
- 15 - FRIGID - Wasn't far off La Rocket at Flemington when 3rd-up (had chance). Drawn better than him here and stays down in weights also. Ran a terrific 3rd here at 1600m in Feb. on-pace working in swoopers race.
- 12 - CAPE D'AMORE - Looked likely to make a dash at them when badly baulked last week at 1600m. Just wish this was 100m further than 1600m, not 100m less...?? Including in quaddie.
- 11 - TEST EDITION - Beat Cape D'amore at Bendigo then was game on-pace at Caulfield. No worries 1516m. Nice alley. Vert honest.
Race 7 - Future Stars Sprint - SWP - 1000m
- 3 - SECRET FLYER - Resumes. Came of age last prep winning last four of five runs (two here - both against the bias !). The miss was in a Newmarket Hcp when drew out where nothing ran on. Has terrific 1000m stats.
- 2 - MORGAN DOLLAR - Resumes. 1st-up specialist. Ran .8L 4th in a G1 Oakleigh Plate 1st-up last time in. He won brilliantly fresh prior. Will give Secret Flyer something to catch !!
- 1 - WILANDER - Resumes. Was a good on-pace 1.4L 4th in a Lightning Stks at G1 level at 1000m fresh last time in (Scenic Blast won that race). Gives the two abovementioned runners 2kg which is no help but is a winning hope.
- 4 - SHREWD RHYTHM - Freshened. Has a similar freshen prior to the win this track/trip in June. The last start 2nd to Gran Sasso ties in. Not sure well weighted though.
- 8 - UNCLE IVAN - Resumes. Taking a line through Allied Force (the horse Shrewd Rhytm beat here in June), this guy has a case. Spelled after failing behind 'Shrewd' last time. Is genuine and loves 1000m. Place hope.
Race 8 - 0-89 Hcp - 1200m
- 4 - TRUSTUS - Top effort at Caulfield last time when 3-wide the trip and 5-weeks between runs. Top win with 58kg prior. Back to 1200m but likes MV and drawn for gun-run.
- 2 - EAGLE FALLS - Showed a turn of foot to win fresh and ran good time. He won this track/trip 2nd-up last prep with 58kg then was G2 placed. Gate awkward but claim useful. Good horse.
- 17 - DANE THE RAVE - 4th-emergency but want to include if gets a run. Nice win off slow pace last time. Value chance if sneaks into field.
- 3 - SIGNOR SOCKS - Big odds but top win at Lakeside over In The Shadows (who is in good form) then was only swamped late by Commanding Hope and Co. here at 1200m (winner then wide/ good up in grade last week). Likes give in track.
- 7 - PROSPECT - Found the Aurie's Star Hcp a bit rich last time. Ran super here prior when 2.7L off Commanding Hope finding the line after finding trouble. Gate 1. Blowout hope.
RANDWICK
Race 1 - 0-91 Hcp - 2400m
- 5 - HAWK ISLAND - Might be the value here with 2kg advantage on Strike One from last week. His run was good as he was 3-wide early then restrained back for cover, did like his last 200m (only Disco Dancer had faster last 200m split) and looks suited to 2400m.
- 2 - STRIKE ONE - The obvious after the very sound .3L 2nd to Disco Dancer last week giving him 5kg. He was beaten a lip (by Want A Bet who runs here) his 1 x 2400m run (meets him 1kg worse)... Has been top2 in seven straight runs.
- 6 - WANT A BET - Beat Strike One in June at 2400m and meets him better at the weights so must have a case! Closed ok (not as well as Strike One/ Hawk Island) last week but... gets to 2400m !
- 3 - STREETFIGHTER - Had excuses in two runs at Rosehill (carted 59kg then covered ground) behind Voice Coach (flying!) before the solid 5th to Pacino at Caulfield. Has placed at 2400m.
Race 2 - 0-90 Hcp - 1600m
- 5 - SIR FUSSALOT - Excellent on-pace effort this track/trip last time as he covered ground up on a strong speed and managed to beat all-bar longshot swooper Inadesert. There is less speed on paper here so can see him getting it softer up front, claim is useful (gets 2kg on him here). May be the value?
- 6 - EMPEROR BONEPARTE - Long-time subscribers to Ozracing know I have been an Emperor Boneparte fan for a long while... It is tragic he has only two wins (forever luckless!) but had the right run fresh and showed a neat turn of footy to win. His 2nd-up form is either very good, or luckless. Not concerned 1200-to-1600m 2nd-up from this yard.
- 1 - LODGE THE DEEDS - Looks ready to win but lack of tempo on paper does concern. Lovely finale here 2nd-up (home 11.75 last 200m - winner Altered Boy was 11.84), runner-up was Bejewelled (flying) and 3rd was stakes winner Miss Marielle, they gapped the rest of the field. Wants 1600m! A must !
- 7 - INADESERT - Was silly odds last time and when out to the 1600m and charged late to score off that strong tempo. Lack of tempo in this is a concern and has relative weights against but never knock winners! If they wind-up early (Future's Dream - I am looking in your direction...)
- 4 - FUTURE'S DREAM - Went early and pinched the race at Canterbury. Tried similar tactics last time and held 3rd behind Voice Coach (flying!) and Pacino (then won Caulfield).
Race 3 - Listed Toy Show Qlty - F&M - 1400m
- 3 - NEDIYMS DREAM - She motored late to score here fresh at 1300m. She boasts a 2.7L 6th to Jewelled Gate/ Illuminates in a Nivison Stks 2nd-up last attempt at 120m (home nice) and the 1400m suits much better. Bowman takes over the ride.
- 5 - MOTI - Simply too strong 1st-up at WFM/1400m and note, she won at 1400m 2nd-up last prep (quite well) then wasn't disgraced up in grade behind Rock Me Baby. She ran well around good horses last prep. Can measure up.
- 1 - BEJWELLED - Flying! Looked home here last time but was run down by Altered Boy (who got freak inside runs). All her 1400m form is good. Will be on-pace (with Moti) and can certainly win despite the 57kg.
- 4 - MISS MARIELLE - Too wet fresh. Chased hard behind Altered Boy/Bejewelled 2nd-up and peaks now, from gate 1. No worries 1600m. In well relative weights.
- 7 - PERMISSION TO LAND - Resumes. Ran well 1st-up last time in but was no match at all for winner Polaway (won by 5L) but she did cart 58.5kg. Is good enough.
Race 4 - G3 Up And Coming Stks - 3yo C&G - 1200m
- 4 - SNIPLAZ - Top effort 1st-up as he missed the start and got back (winner Shellscrape sat on speed and on a modest tempo) before running home gamely. Fitter/Further the big ticks. Tough/Even race this.
- 3 - DELAGO BOLT - Resumes. Has been trialling very well. Beaten a lip at Rosehill fresh last prep then won two straight before being the most unlucky runner in the slipper. Did like the look of him at the trials... He can win no worries.
- 2 - SHELLSCRAPE - Tough, match-fit, will race handy and is off three straight wins. Obviously hard to beat.
- 5 - OFFHANDED - Nice debut behind Shamoline Warrior (looks smart) then walked in at Canterbury with blinkers on. Fell in here before the spell but that was a heavy track. Nice recent trial.
- 1 - ONEMORENOMORE - Resumes. Two very good trials. Last 1st-up run: A 6L 3rd to Melito in a Silver Slipper at 1100m. The 1200m suits much better. Yep... Tough/even race indeed.
Race 5 - Listed Show County Qlty - 1200m
- 5 - ALBERT THE FAT - Two top wins this prep in Qld. Was only beaten 3L by Black Piranha in a Goldmarket last prep despite getting a mile back and then racing on slower inside lanes. Bit nervous about gate 13 but certain he is good enough!
- 4 - JUDGED - Resumes. Very smart mare with excellent dry track stats. Forgive the 1st-up run last prep (mile back on heavy) and go on her 1st-up second to Hairy in a Sheraco Stks (rattled home). Can win.
- 12 - SWIFT ALLIANCE - Two from two this prep and beat a good one in O'Lonhro last time. Only defeat was at the hands of Youthful Jack (was flying then). In with 53kg. A must.
- 2 - FIGHTING FUND - Resumes. Now 8yo but his fresh form is very good (often without much luck) and he was second to Hot Danish in a Salinger Stks in the spring. Good speed suits. Blowout hope.
- 6 - BRYANNBO'S GIFT - Resumes. Attacked the line to just miss Solo Flyer 1st-up last prep in good time, at 1200m. Yet to miss a place fresh. Nicely-related and typical Zabeel... Keeps improving.
Race 6 - G2 Warwick Stks - WFA - 1400m
- 5 - VOICE COMMANDER - Thought he was the 'Run Of The Day' here last start 4&5-wide at an unsuitable trip (1200m) as he just kept coming with 58kg, when most would have dropped out. His win prior was dominant. Yes, he is up to WFA but gets to his right trip and gets a nice run on the speed map here. No moral but at $10.. He is the match-fit value.
- 6 - COURT COMMAND - The other on-pacer. Is high-class when right and walked in fresh with 60.5kg. He won 2nd-up last prep in a G3 leading all the way then was brave on-pace in a Stradbroke in a race set up for swoopers. Goes close here!
- 1 - RACING TO WIN - Speaking of class. He didn't fire 1st-up last prep but had issues. Reports are very positive this time around and note, he won this race 1st-up last year. Best suited by WFA scale.
- 2 - VISION AND POWER - Resumes. Came of age (and then some!) last prep and it all started with a terrific 1st-up win at this trip. He had 10 runs that prep, the worst run was a 1L 5th in G1 QE Stks and the run was enormous. Neat trial recently. A must !
- 10 - O'LONHRO - Promising 4yo who stretched Swift Alliance 1st-up, they thrashed the rest of the field. 2nd-up last prep he was a terrific winner beating subsequent Derby winner Roman Emperor. This WFA but can measure up.
- 11 - TRUSTING - Will make a horse but 7-day back-up 2nd-up and out to WFA???
Race 7 - 0-86 Hcp - 1200m
- 5 - HANDSUPFORDETROIT - Resumes. Should have won 1st-up last prep this track/trip in a 0-75 with then out of form D.Nikolic riding. Won well 2nd-up then made Nicconi work to beat him in Listed grade. Wasn't knocked about in trial (against some top-class horses - went well). Go well.
- 12 - POLAWAY - Resumes. Handy horse who ran 3.2L 10th to Rock Me Baby (and Samantha Miss) 1st-up last prep (closed well/ the run was good) before beating stakes placed Permission To Land by 5L. Well placed class-wise, well-drawn. Winning hope.
- 10 - BACI AMORE - Resumes. Trialled quite well. Ran 4.5L 5th to Youthful Jack in a Royal Sovereign Stks 1st-up last prep. We are now a while between wins but this grade suitable.
- 4 - ALTERED BOY - Keeps winning! Superior wet-tracker but was able to run-over the in-form Bejewelled on dead ground last time (had dream run). Back to 1200m on dry are queries but the claim is smart. Have to include.
- 14 - JAVASEA - Expecting much better onto drier (the debut win was good consiering he didn't handle the wet !!).
Race 8 - G3 Silver Shadow Stks - 3yoF - SWP - 1200m
- 2 - MORE JOYOUS - Resumes. Lovely trial. Her two wins in the first prep were dominant, her two defeats, well, there were legitimate excuses (buck-jumped/ too wet in slipper). Likely short odds but top pick.
- 1 - MELITO - Resumes. Scrambled a bit on debut on slow ground then won very well in Silver Slipper second go before sound/no match 2nd to More Joyous (beat rest easy). Gets firm ground she needs. A danger.
- 5 - SO ANYWAY - Resumes. Showed plenty in her first prep. Best form reference is her 4.6L 3rd to More Joyous/ Melito in Resiling Slipper (finished off well) and looks to have come on. Gate awkward (check pattern). Market lead ?
- 11 - DEER VALLEY - Touch unlucky last time at juicy odds when flew late to just miss Gigas. Ran super prior when never on the track yet came again late at 1000m. Has fitness edge.
- 4 - KISS ME KATY - Back to own sex after a sound 3rd to Shellscrape in San Domenico. She is unbeaten 2nd-up (the latest at 1200m) and drawn for good run for R. "Ralph" Wiggins...
Good luck !
