Horse Racing Tips Archive: August 16 2008, Group 1 Service
Below is the Archive of our 16 August 2008 Racing Form and Tips, Which We Provided For Our Group 1 Subscribers
SUMMARY OF LAST WEEK:
Racing was at FLEMINGTON last week on a Dead/Good (upgraded) track and the Aurie's Star Hcp always signals to me the start of the spring! The track played quite well although winners didn't really sweep down the centre as much as get the 'suck run' through inside and peeled out. The outside rail was the place in straight races.
Run OF The Day:
If this isn't a group 1 horse I might give it away... ZAGREB. 1st-up at 1440m, mile back held-up along the inside turning then steamed home without ever really opening throttle! This is a horse that shouldn't be getting warm until he sees 2000m...
In that same race: ROSLOTTA (makes the hate file for tipping me out of a $38k quaddie, and for running second every time I back him!!) just had the dream 'suck run' and was helped by MORETON BAY just peaking on his (outstanding) 1st-up run after coming from a mile back... POISED TO WIN was another making very nice ground 1st-up at the unsuitable trip. Country Cups are his go this prep I fancy. CONQUERING (sat handy/ kicked) was also good. Time: 1:24.4 but funny trip the 1440m.
To Race 2 and STREET SENSATION had the beaut run tracking through saving ground, was nibbled at odds and touched off REGALLY RED who looked home but just can't sprint! Genuine one-pacer. ARCTIC SPRING weaved home very nicely, only winner had faster last 400m sectional. A few forgive runs here off the slow pace.
All honours with the nicely-related EQUIVOCAL in Race 3 overcoming interference (and a very narrow run) to beat CITY OF RUINS. SNAPPY TOM kept coming (every chance) at odds and DANCE ON AIR peaked 50m out, fitter. BEXAAR is a fraud, don't fall into him! LUCKY FOR ME had sound late sectionals and hit the line well. Time: 58.26 for the 1000m
The Aurie's Star was dominated from the front (seems to be every year/ maybe it's all the 1st-up stayers??) and GRAND DUELS touched off STAVKA. Ignoring the time of 1:10.48 due to the slow tempo. VALEDICTUM made a lovely return off said slow speed (very good sectionals) and both TRANSLATE and SCHILLING pleased.
Race 7 was dominated from the front. CHOLULA (raced handy 2nd-up!! Great tactics) and was simply too good. Stable say there is plenty left in the tank... MOCK keeps running well without winning. IN THE SHADOWS (led/ every chance) and VILLAIN (ran on well Vs tempo) ran 3rd, 4th. They ran 1:44.2 for the 1700.
ADMIRAL'S LADY scored in the last at massive odds, she looked resigned to running second 100m out then surged to roll SWOOPER who kept kicking gamely. The first four home here settled in the first five. Best run-ons were: WITH DECORUM, KINKA RHODE (missed kick) and ONASKUTA (fastest last 400m). EVIL TRICKS is, well, Evil Tricks...
The Forgive File:
NEUROTIC PRINCESS (slow out/ tempo against), EXTREMELY HISSED (back & wide Vs slow pace), CHASE THE TIGER (always wide), LARA'S GLITTER (came wide), CAPRIZZI STRIP (amiss), PLAYWRIGHT (raced too fresh), FLORINA (wide/ worked early), RACY ALICE (came via the cape!) and LADY ZHIVAGO (back/wide).
In Sydney racing was at ROSEHILL the track went from a Slow-6 to a Dead-5. There was no bias evident (2 winners came from tail). Rail was 6m.
Run Of The Day:
Loved the run of SARA'S CHOICE who sat wide on the speed in Race 6 and the race was set-up for swoopers! Her effort to hold onto third was excellent.
Others in race 6: INDIRECT (strong finish/ top debut), MYSTERIOUS LIGHT (looked home/ no match late), PALACIO DE CRISTAL (worked home well).
To Race 2 and FASHION STREET's daring all-the-way tactics paid off again, she was a mile in front midrace and held on to beat SEQUINELLA who did find the line strong. ASSHEWAQUA (3rd-fastest last 400m) and POETIC GENIUS (2nd-fastest) were sound. Not comparing times today on an improving track...
In Race 4 HADAAF carted 60kg and defied the distance (1800m) query to hold off CRUMS who looked a big chance 200m out but Hadaaf wouldn't stop!! HIKE ran home super (best sectionals) off a modest tempo. Forgive those further back...
Strong win from DUPORTH in race 5, nicely-related, stable aiming high this spring! WHITEFRIARS led and was only collared 50m from home. ATOMIC FORCE kept closing very well despite some greenness and traffic problems. Good! ANATOMICA battled well with every chance. For the record, they ran 1-4.29 for the 1100m and PURE DRAMA had the fastest last 200m split of the race (.04 faster than Duporth).
The blowout came in Race 7 with DANE FLYER sailing home from the back, 1st-up at 1350m... Think I would have missed him if I field-ed that quaddie leg !?!? KENNY'S WORLD gave a nice kick straightening but was nutted. OUR JETSETTER may have been a touch flat 2nd-up.
A slow tempo in race 8 made it hard for those well back. The quinella ROYAL ESPRIT and STRAT'S FLYER made their runs together, from off the speed and ran slick sectionals. Leaders had every hope here... Forgiving the moderate 1:12.18 due to said tempo.
The Forgive File:
DOUBLE ELLE (amiss), SUPERNOVA (not much luck), READY TO REIGN (surely amiss?), LODGE THE DEEDS (tempo against), KING'S FIRST (the box-seat dream runs had to end eventually, raced wide here), ELUSIVE GIFT (Runner-up took her run 200m!), MOSS FLYER (bit much pressure), OAHU GIRL (wide), JAMBEROO (covered ground), HURRAH (tempo no help) and HOTEL CASINO (blew start badly/ ran very well for mine).
To today's racing...
PLEASE NOTE:
All ratings for CAULFIELD are for DEAD track (Dead-5), the rail is out 8m so the track is tighter than usual. Run-ons are rarely disadvantaged at Caulfield when there is cut out of the track.
In Sydney racing is back at ROSEHILL, rail comes back to the True. Ratings are for DEAD track there also. Run-ons get their chance pending tempo.
BET OF THE DAY (Melbourne)
CAULFIELD - Race 2 No.2 - GALLOPIN - 1st-up. Good horse! Was beaten 1.2L into 3rd by Skiddaw Peak & Rubiscent at this trip 1st-up last prep. He won well 1st-up prior. Never runs poorly and there are little queries on almost all his rivals in this. Go well.
BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)
ROSEHILL - Race 2 No.8 - XAVIER - Hard to go passed off back-to-back wins here. Showed a lovely turn of foot last time to easily beat last week's quinella Hadaaf/ Crums and is now 2 from 2 this distance range. Keeps improving...
BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD - Race 5 No.11 - SPARKING SATINE - Lovely return at Flemington when kept closing despite being never fully clear then again struck trouble at MV but again. kept closing in another terrific effort. Peaks now but gate 14 is a query. Senior rider takes over.
BEST EACH-WAY BET OF THE DAY
ROSEHILL - Race 6 No.3 - O DANNY BOY - Kept giving when resuming behind Hotel Casino and that form is good. Covered ground here last time and stuck to his task well. The extra 100m here will help and can peak 3rd-up from the good draw, and run well.
BEST ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
CAULFIELD - Race 4 No.12 - MISS VALLEY ROAD - Really liked her debut at Hillside running on super after drifting well back on a leader biased track (quinella sat 1-2 all way) and runner-up there Two Hills then ran super here two weeks back behind Tempest Tost. 1100m suits. Bet she makes a nice filly! $16 fixed-odds as I type this...
TOP-RATED RUNNERS
CAULFIELD
Race 1 - Hcp - 2000m
- 2 - CHOLULA - Class racehorse who stormed home from last 1st-up (fastest last 200m split of the day) then was able to sit handy in a race devoid of speed and win well last week when only 2nd-up. Stable openly say there is more improvement to come. 2000m suits. The query might be a slow or worse track is all...
- 1 - MAGNETIC - Started lining up as soon as he was ridden colder last time and he was strong to the line (just like in Winter C'ship final despite a slow pace). Sat handy and gave all two-back. In well weights for gun apprentice. Handles all conditions.
- 7 - JOONTOO GEMINI - Forgive last week with 57kg against the males. Back to 2000m with sting out down in weight here. Will give her all, she always does!
- 8 - SERMON - Worked home well at MV against the day/race pattern then stormed home in midweek grade last time after being shuffled back a touch. In light. Blowout chance.
- 3 - BOLLE - Super-honest and building a great record. Form through Scenic Silver ties in through Winter C'ship final. Sat handy and gave his all last time to beat another genuine galloper Papa (Sermon 5th, gets 1kg adv.)
Race 2 - Hcp - 1600m
- 2 - GALLOPIN - 1st-up. Good horse! Was beaten 1.2L into 3rd by Skiddaw Peak & Rubiscent at this trip 1st-up last prep. He won well 1st-up prior. Never runs poorly and there are little queries on almost all his rivals in this. Go well.
- 3 - BIRD DANCER - Racing in great heart. Beat Magnetic two-back despite coming wide (and bumped turn) then chased that same galloper hard here at 2000m latest. Back to mile (G1 placed at mile) but apprentice cannot claim so only gets 1kg off Gallopin. Has match fitness over him.
- 4 - LIGHT VISION - 1st-up. Very nice trial recently. Forgive the 1st-up miss last prep at 1200m (too short!). Beat all-bar Something Anything at 1400m fresh prior. Mile suits. A danger. Like him as a racehorse, expecting him to win a good race this prep.
- 6 - JENNINGS - Tiny query at the mile for mine but racing well and the form through Jeuneyman/ Jerrymac/ Jungle Ruler of late is super. In with 50kg will help him go as far as he can !
- 8 - ENCROACHER - Tiny query at the mile also. Ran well at Ballarat last time as he stayed on the slower inside rail. He won his first four this prep so is flying!
Race 3 - Listed Vain Stks - 3yoC&G - 1100m
- 1 - REAAN - 1st-up. Unbeaten fresh including a 5 length win here at 1000m 1st-up last prep in a Blue Diamond Preview. He then, of course, won the Diamond 2nd-up. If you delete his Sydney runs (didn't handle that way of going) all his form is excellent.
- 2 - EXCEEDINGLY GOOD - 1st-up. Chased stablemate Wilander hard 1st-up last prep this track/trip but peaked on his run 100m out. Was only 2.6L off Reaan in a Blue Diamond when drew gate 1 (no great help/ ran ok).
- 8 - CATAPULTED - Good looking win 1st-up in Adelaide. He drew the car park and was only 3.8L off Augusta Proud 2nd-up last prep and they broke 1-3.00 for 1100m. Don't mind drawing out (gate 13 here) around the sprints at Caulfield.
- 12 - BUCKETS - A bit unfortunate he is in that, when he races on the speed it becomes a swoopers race (first two runs this prep) then sat behind the speed last time and leaders dominated. Gate 1 here so may get rails trail. May be silly odds?
- 6 - FERNANDINA - 1st-up. Won nicely on debut beating Folau (had form through some top-shelf 2yo's last prep) only other fresh run. Ran into Tindal second go (form around him is strong). May have come on. Can win. Tough race!
Race 4 - Listed Quezette Stks - 3yoF - 1100m
- 12 - MISS VALLEY ROAD - Really liked her debut at Hillside running on super after drifting well back on a leader biased track (quinella sat 1-2 all way) and runner-up there Two Hills then ran super here two weeks back behind Tempest Tost. 1100m suits. Bet she makes a nice filly!
- 2 - SUGAR BABE - 1st-up. Top-shelf 2yo yet to run a bad race and often she has little luck! (all at the top level too). Got a mile back and rattled home behind a smartie in Believe'N'Succeed. Go well.
- 7 - BURGEIS - 1st-up. Performed very well at the highest level in her first prep including a Blue Diamond & Sires placing. Her only other fresh run was her debut at MV when sat wide, circled the field and bolted away from the field. Can certainly win.
- 10 - ALTITUDE - Was backed heavy and won well 1st-up at Hillside easily beating Shine On Anna who then beat Zapurple at Flemington last week. No worries 1100m. No worries wet obviously!
- 4 - VIENNESE - 1st-up. She won well 1st-up last prep at 1000m/Hillside then beat all-bar Augusta Proud in Adelaide (stakes race) breaking 1-3.00 for 1100m. Stable say since riding her behind the speed she has improved lengths.
Race 5 - F&M Hcp - 1400m
- 11 - SPARKING SATINE - Lovely return at Flemington when kept closing despite being never fully clear then again struck trouble at MV but again. kept closing in another terrific effort. Peaks now but gate 14 is a query. Senior rider takes over.
- 7 - OFFER IT UP - Outstanding win this track/trip last start after getting well back (missed kick) and circled them with no trail and won anyway. That was her first go at 1400m. Drawn gate 15 which is a query too. Is this a trap race?
- 10 - ACELAND STREET - Comes back to her own sex off a good effort at MV after covering ground. Drawn the best of the key hopes and will settle in front of them and loves sting out. The value?
- 6 - STELLAMAC - Absolutely flew home 1st-up here behind Brazen Hussey from 2nd-last over 1100m. She won at 1400m ( Randwick/ James Carr Stks Listed race) at $101. Can win!
- 1 - EXTENSION OF TIME - 1st-up. Scratched a few times of late. Has class and claim helps here. Note, her only top-3 miss fresh was 1st-up last prep when 3L 6th at Flemington with 59kg. Has two wins fresh. Has won 3 of 5 on dead tracks.
Race 6 - Liston Stks - WFA - 1400m
- 7 - WEEKEND HUSSLER - 1st-up. Won an Oakleigh Plate 1st-up last prep then didn't lose in that campaign. Has had a mini set-back but just can't see stable having him underdone as they are so keen to protect his reputation. Watch race for me.
- 10 - LIGHT FANTASTIC - 1st-up. Could be anything. Not many do what he did in that first prep. He was over the top for mine in the Guineas at Flemington but won anyway. Will have come on from that prep. The danger!
- 2 - MALDIVIAN - 1st-up. Ran super 1st-up last prep at the unsuitable 1200m trip (loomed to win there). Ran 3L third to Apache Cat fresh-up prior. Stable will be keen to have his reputation restored but he won't be fully wound up. Keen to see.
- 3 - ALEXANDER OF HALES - 1st-up off a long spell and first Oz start. He did win at 2000m 1st-up last campaign but is being trained differently so expecting him to show some dash fresh. Has the quality (form around good horses) and wet no worries.
- 8 - KIBBUTZ - 1st-up. He won 1st-up last prep over 1200m as a very raw gelding. 1400m suits much better and expecting he has come on lengths... Keen to see also.
Race 7 - G3 Cockram Stks - Mares - SWP - 1200m
- 5 - MIMI LEBROCK - 1st-up. Top effort to win at listed level 1st-up last prep. All her fresh form is super, she handles all conditions but gate 16 and first go Melbourne way the queries. Tough race!
- 7 - ROYAL ASSCHER - Was given no hope 1st-up sitting back in slowly run race and finding trouble at a vital stage. She was beaten 2.1L by Weekend Hussler in a G1 Oakleigh Plate here 2nd-up last prep. She won well 2nd-up at her previous campaign.
- 16 - VIVACIOUS STREET - 1st-up. Got a mile back and stormed home 1st-up last prep for 3rd to Absolut Glam/ Tranquility Base. That 1L 2nd to Light Fantastic looks great form now. Quality mare.
- 4 - DORABELLA - 1st-up. First Oz start. Trialled very well. In lining her up, she beat Seachange at WFA in New Zealand. Stable very happy with her. Nice alley. Goes in everything, especially off that trial !
- 9 - LUCKY DIVA - The match-fit on-pace mare who loves Caulfield/1200m. Gate 16 if three emergencies come out may see her get to silly odds. Did I mention tough race !?!?
Race 8 - Hcp - 1200m
- 9 - SOUND JOURNEY - 1st-up. Terrific effort 1st-up last prep when 3-wide the trip and ran 3.8L 4th to Playwright at 1400m. He then beat that galloper 2nd-up (runner-up unlucky but he was wide again and won very well for mine). Would have been Bet Of The Day had he trialled a touch better... Is smart !
- 2 - SONIC QUEST - 1st-up. Flies fresh. There is a school of thought he may have tested the mighty Apache Cat 1st-up last prep at 1200m/MV when strung-up and charged home. He won his previous two fresh runs. Gate 1 and the big weight are tiny queries but sting out of the track is a huge plus. Can certainly win.
- 5 - SCENIC BLAST - Speaking of smart horses... He resumes here and flies fresh. Stable say he is not fully wound up but his 3yo form around Weekend Hussler & Co. (when often luckless) is outstanding. I am a fan... Goes in.
- 1 - GOTTA HAVE HEART - 1st-up. Ran well 1st-up last prep when 2L 4th to Let Go Thommo/ Maldivian as he took over turning but rolled back to the slower inside rail in the straight that night and probably peaked late also. Claim helps here, drawn well and has a good hope.
- 4 - FRIDAY CREEK - 1st-up. Has been top-2 in four of six fresh runs. He split smart pair Hoystar and Danleigh 1st-up last prep. New stable/ environment here. Gate 16, race 8...
ROSEHILL
Race 1 - 86RB Hcp - 1900m
- 8 - BRIGHT MIND - That was a god race he won at Kembla. Runner-up Universal Colours goes very well and city competitive Swat was also behind him. That was only start No.6 so has plenty of upside and was a month between runs into it.
- 7 - SIR FUSSALOT - He won 1st-up and has been (very) close-up his two subsequent runs this prep. The form from his last start third has stacked up through Black Routine winning last week. He won 4th-up last prep and ran narrow second his one go this trip. Good chance.
- 4 - MUSIC REVIEW - Did cover ground at Gosford in her Oz debut then out to 1900m 2nd-up and beat Enzed Eagle on heavy who then won nicely last week. Even better for that 3rd-up and has form on dry tracks. Can win.
- 2 - DELAGO STAR - Good effort to win 2nd-up jumping 1250m-to-1600m then never stopped trying last week out to 1800m behind Hadaaf/Crums. In well after the claim, has won here and likes 1900m. Backs-up well.
- 10 - FEORLAN - Stormed home last start at Hawkesbury in a city-class race won by Rain Game. Beat all-bar Hike prior who was excellent last week against a slow pace. All his form beyond 1500m is terrific. Overs?
Race 2 - Hcp - 1500m
- 8 - XAVIER - Hard to go passed off back-to-back wins here. Showed a lovely turn of foot last time to easily beat last week's quinella Hadaaf/ Crums and is now 2 from 2 this distance range. Keeps improving...
- 4 - O'CRIKEY - Was close-up 1st-up behind the flying Illuminates then led and kicked strongly to win 2nd-up. He won 3rd-up last campaign (off a lesser effort 2nd-up) and loves this track/trip. Should be able to lead at his own pace here so is a danger for sure.
- 3 - RED LORD - Very pleasing return here behind Xavier. He ran well (5th to Sirmione/ Princess Coup) in a St. George Stks 2nd-up last prep at WFA. Blowout danger!?
- 6 - BIANCA - Followed the winner Xavier here last time and ran home 23.71 (last 400m) compared to winner's 23.61. Gets 1kg weight-pull here and should get her favourite racing surface (Dead ground) here. Probably needs a softer run then Xavier to turn the tables.
- 9 - FESTUS HAGEN - Had every chance last time when 3.6L off Xavier and 1.3L off Bianca. Gets 1.5kg on winner but will also need a soft run (gate 1 helps) and the Xavier to have a tough run to turn tables I fancy.
Race 3 - 86RB Hcp - 1500m
- 9 - BLACK PIRANHA - Was terrific 1st-up flashing through for close-up 4th at odds in a race otherwise dominated from the front. His last 200m sectional was the best of the day there. He races well 2nd-up and is actually a shade better on drier ground for mine... Well graded here! Good chance.
- 11 - ESCUDERO - Bolted in at Scone and wasn't far away last time this track/trip behind Rednrich, thought his run was every bit as good as the winner's as he worked a bit early and faced the breeze. Gate 1 here so should get the nice smother. Gets 2.5kg on toppy. Value chance.
- 1 - REDNRICH - Meets Escudero 2.5kg worse (after claim) here but he won and he has been top-2 in all two of three runs this track/trip. The miss was a very forgivable 9th two-back when drew 1, was pressure and in inferior ground. Don't knock winners!
- 2 - FESTUS HAGEN - Suspect they will run here and dodge Xavier in Race 2... This is the better option despite the big weight.
- 12 - HUMMA - Can tease a bit but did run home sweetly here last time behind Rednrich from a mile back (best late sectionals) and has shown the ability to race handier. Although gate 11 ? Drier track suits better for mine. Not worst. Meets winner 2.5kg better also.
Race 4 - G2 Premiere Stks - WFA - 1200m
- 3 - REIGNING TO WIN - Loved his 1st-up run last time in when found trouble but ran home super for 2.8L 2nd to Apache Cat (Takeover Target 3rd). In fact all his fresh form is super! Trialled very well.
- 2 - MENTALITY - 1st-up. Also trialled terrific. Was only 4l off Weekend Hussler in an Oakleigh Plate 1st-up last prep. His overall record is very good when you delete wet track runs.
- 1 - TRIPLE HONOUR - 1st-up. 3 from 3 fresh and that (half) nose second to Weekend Hussler and G1 Doncaster win say it all. Not a betting race but keen to watch! Any of them could win...
- 5 - HURRIED CHOICE - 1st-up Trialled well and races very well fresh.
Race 5 - G3 Run To Roses - 1300m
- 5 - MAYBE I - Gave them 5 lengths straightening on debut and stretched out very nicely for a top win on the heavy. Runner-up there Elusive Gift had no luck at a vital stage (ran well) here last week. The extra 100m looks a plus. Now to do it on drier...
- 2 - DESUETUDE - Impressed on debut then the blinkers went on here and he was impressive again (took the lead under a hold!). Will relish 1300m and will be very hard to beat.
- 1 - BACI AMOUR - 1st-up. Won on debut his only other fresh run then was competitive in some good races. Has only had one flop (was lame that day) and has trialled nicely. Top-weight makes it hard but has form in better races...
- 6 - ROYAL THIEF - Thought he should have finished closer to Desuetude 1st-up as he was tightened at the 150m when closing. Fitter here and beat all-bar Over The Wicket 2nd-up last prep. The 2.5kg weight-pull helps. The $15 is overs for mine.
- 4 - PREDATORY PRICER - Flopped on the heavy on debut then onto drier at Kembla and charged late to get up in a very good win (still green/ learning). Is a half to Takeover Target and has some of the family ability it seems!
Race 6 - 75RB Hcp - 1300m
- 3 - O DANNY BOY - Kept giving when resuming behind Hotel Casino and that form is good. Covered ground here last time and stuck to his task well. The extra 100m here will help and can peak 3rd-up from the good draw, and run well.
- 6 - ASHIKAGA - Two starts, two impressive wins at Kembla when short-priced favourite in both. Gate 15 and up in grade represent new challenges but doubt we have seen his best yet. As a 5yo he has obviously had issues getting to the track.
- 8 - ELMSFORD - Sat back and come wide then rattled home 1st-up in a terrific return. Was backed there I note. Winner Kenny's World had box-seated and then came out and ran very well last week. He was given no hope his only other 2nd-up run. May be the value? Goes in everything.
- 9 - ROYALAZ - Kept closing last time (no match Elmsford) but had sound sectionals and it was a heavy track. He was coming ff back-to-back wins on dead ground there so drier suits, as does gate 1 (pattern?)...
- 7 - BAADI BLASTED - 1st-up. He led and won this track/trip 1st-up last prep. In fact, he is unbeaten this track/trip. Gate 18 hurts (scratchings/ pattern?).
Race 7 - 91RB F&M Hcp - 1200m
- 9 - CAJOU - 1st-up. Big win (from last) 1st-up last prep running over handy stablemate Gergis. Trialled nicely (wasn't let go) and a likely genuine tempo will suit, as might gate 14 off said tempo by race 7 with rail true here... Tough race though.
- 2 - HAIRY - 1st-up. Kept closing last time in when fresh to November Flight who had sat outside a slow speed and controlled the race. She won her previous two fresh and crossed the line with Hurried Choice in a recent trial and can win.
- 1 - STAR OF CROWN - Still flying! Came wide (no trail) 600m out last time and hit the lead but Kishkat fought back to beat her. The day she gets a soft run she might win by a space!?!? 59kg no help but gate 4 is and drier is no concern at all. Been up a while and keeps having hard runs but she is tough and goes in for sure.
- 11 - NEROLI - 1st-up off very long spell but has been in work a while and trialled well a couple of times. She showed a bit in her first prep and won't be getting a mile back here. Watch for a market push...
- 10 - DONNA INTELLIGENTE - 1st-up. Ran 2.2L 3rd to A Sweet Treat 1st-up last prep. Proved herself to be very genuine last campaign (worst finish a 3L 4th when rider was queried). Trialled ok. Watch also.
Race 8 - 86RB Hcp - 1100m
- 5 - TEN OF HEARTS - Sat handy and gave his all in on-pace dominated race 1st-up. Black Piranha ran 4th (ran earlier) for form reference. He has placed 3 of 5 when 2nd-up and 1100m is his best trip. Want to know if gate 1 is a disadvantage though?
- 13 - MALTESE - 1st-up. Covered ground and ran 1L 2nd to Hoystar 1st-up last prep in a top effort. She has won fresh and her form on Good/Dead tracks is very solid. Trialled ok. Gate 13.
- 8 - SPIRILINA - Will find this easier than the Missile Stks. Go on his previous form which included a second to Royal Esprit (since won again) and her solid 1100m stats and she can bounce back.
- 2 - PRICELESS LAD - 1st-up. Has won 2 of 3 fresh including an easy win at Hawkesbury to kick off his last campaign. Trialled/Drawn well but has the 59kg and does meet Ten Of Hearts 3.5kg worse for being beaten 2.3L last time they clashed... Has upside to offset that.
- 6 - KOICHI - 1st-up. Was only 2,5L off Interefere 1st-up last prep at Randwick/1100m. He won on debut his only other fresh run. Has been top-4 in 8 of 9 runs away from heavy. Goes in quaddie.
Good luck !
